World Daily Diaries

And the world is a place, and I pray it's on my side,
But I'd find greater comfort if I just lay down and died,
I don't know what's become of the girl who once knew sunshine,
What's become of the girl who knew sorrow but was strong?
Oh, Mr. King you were right, all along,
Mr. King you were right,
Oh, Mr. King, you were right-I was wrong.

dear diary,

i had a fantastic weekend. and i luv u all.

Dear Diary,

I want to rant about a film. A wonderful little underrated film, starring some serious talent. Racheal Leigh Cook, Alan Cumming, Rosario Dawson, Missi Pyle, and Parker Posey come right off the top of my head.

Of course, I refer to the film adaption of Josie and the Pussycats.

WTH AMERICA? WHY WAS THIS FILM NOT FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL? It's fun, sassy, and confident. And unlike other cartoon adaptions (I'm looking at you Scooby Doo) it didn't mold the characters to fit the actors and actresses. (Love you Sarah Michelle, but I'm looking at you as Daphne and your hubby as Fred.)

It also is pretty straight foward with bringing the three girls stories into a modern world. Sure the group is now a pop punk girl group, but it works better for this age. The social parody and commentary on the entertainment industry and the industry of selling people things in general in this film is HILARIOUS. The film also has a warm Saturday Morning Cartoon message about being yourself and the importance of friendship.

And then you have the villians brilliantly and comedically well acted by the underrated Alan Cumming and Parker Posey. I dare any of you to watch this film and then tell me you don't laugh when they get into the evil laugh off. :cmad:

Okay. Rant Over. Wait, one more thing. WTF AMERICA? :cmad: Okay. Rant over. :)

i have josie and the pussycats on DVD, and i also bought the soundtrack.

:uncool:

the film bombed because it was completely and utterly campy. Americans don't like camp. unless they're young girls or gay. that seems redudant.

You refering to Claud or me?

Well, unless you got lucky too, I think he was talking to Claud.

And Jas, at least her luck didn't come from her hand. :p

Oh yes. Americans don't like camp. Half the finacial succesful films do have HIGH levels of camp.

Note: This film is also the only film I can believe Tara Reid is playing a character and not just Tara Reid trying to be someone else in.

that's unintentional camp.
Josie & the Pussycats was a campy satire on American consumerism. intentional camp has a cult audience.

movies starring, say, The Rock have unintentional camp added to them.

Try dorm. Ya gotta go through many rooms to find me. :word:
omg, this one guy who kind of stalked me in first year showed up at my room one day when i dropped my ID card in the caf

and i had NEVER spoken to the guy before, and we had no mutual friends... it was so creepy that he delivered it right to my door

and stood there like he expected me to let him in

I don't give a damn! It's a freaking movie about one of the biggest cartoon shows of the 70s and 80s! It should have been successful! Intentional camp or not! :cmad:

Oh! One way! One day! I will get you. :cmad: :ninja:

stand over by the wall
where i can see it all
