I just watched this and I liked it. But yeah, I kind of hate the Remnant people. Part of me was hoping Theroux would just go on a killing spree at the end and wipe them all out, lol. The way they all chain smoke, they're going to die anyway, the f***ers.

I think that's the point. Their entire way of living, to me, points to them seeing whatever life everyone else is attempting to live, in light of the departure or whatever it's referred to here, as a waste of time. They chain smoke, they eat only what's enough to keep them going, they don't waste time with words or with comforts like actual bed, they don't have mirrors in their bathrooms, so clearly they don't give a **** what they look like anymore, etc. They're not living, they're just hanging around, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

But I'm curious what pushed the characters to join. Liv Tyler and Garvey's wife both. I was really impressed with Amy Brenneman in the scene between her and Garvey and she didn't even have any dialogue. I need to see how she got to that point.

Yeah, totally agree with you there. It seems like they've just accepted that the world is ending or whatever. I just have such an aversion to chain smoking I guess it made me dislike them even more. But yeah, I'm really curious as to what made Liv Tyler's character suddenly decide to join them. I mean, she seemed really depressed early on, so I guess that's part of it, but after two of them STALKED her all night, it seemed kind of shocking that she would want to suddenly join up with them.

Not to rag on a 'kind of different show', but this pilot showed you how much character and depth The Walking Dead lacks in all of it's 4 seasons.

I like that we're seeing emotions instead of mystery, but will need/want some of that. Lost s1-3 did really good things with this outside of the 'tail section' subplot.

For some reason, I feel the "aliens" are using animals to spy on us.

It's also pretty ballsy for us to follow the one family who've apparently haven't lost any family members, I of course thought the wife was 'abducted' and not part of the cult.

Only reason I say it's fair, is the actual comic makes me care about their goals/stories and cry when characters die... yet, I cheer when people die on the show or play with my phone because I can't stand any of those cardboard cutouts.

Who did this score? It had a very Explosions In The Sky/Sigur Rós/El Ten Eleven/'Under The Skin' vibe.

And, did anyone else actually cheer with all of the foolish Hollywood people this "rapture" took? Only one I didn't agree with was Busey.

You cry reading the comics? Damn. I have a much harder time caring for characters on paper (although I love the comics) than on the show. TWD is one of those shows getting so much flak that it's getting ridiculous, it's uneven at times, but it's still excellent TV regardless. The cast really does a great job bringing those characters to life.

I want to treat this show like True Detective. I'd rather have fun with it, and put wonder to things we never get answers to or even get acknowledged...

Than where GOT we're always haunted by the future book knowledge seeping into the adaptation world.

Have they said they are going to explain the rapture?, I was watching an IGN review and they mentioned that the show is just not going to go that route.

I'm gonna drop this show and maybe return to it when it's got a few seasons under its belt. It's just not holding my attention at all right now, and I've checked out the plot synopsis of the book and if the show goes that route it's not anything that's gonna hold my interest in the future.

God, what a great episode, even better than the pilot. There's just so much going on, it's rich, full of mystery, mostly what's surrounding Kevin, the dog guy & his father. It also looks very stylish visually, the opening of the episode was really surprising & strong as well.

Theroux continues to kill it by the way.

I enjoyed it. They took their foot off the gas in the second episode compared to the pilot but that's not a bad thing at all. This show is very character driven. I've convinced myself right off the bat that we may never know what happened to everyone. The biggest questions are what the 2 cults want, how and if they are linked, what is Wayne trying to accomplish and the story behind the dog killer.

The 2nd episode felt slower paced to me compared to the pilot. Like I said, I don't think it's a negative. I'm enjoying this show very much.

I thought the 2nd episode was much better than the 1st. I was very close to giving up on it with the 1st episode but the 2nd one has me completely intrigued. The Wayne guy is creeping the heck out of me. So is the whole deal about the cult and the dog business.

It's still okay. Not really grabbing me, but it's good for passing the time in the summer. Justin Thereux is good.
The black cult leader guy creeps me out so much. Every time he's on screen my skin crawls. And that scene were the to Remnants members communicated with each other just using paper annoyed me

Im making a prediction though, that if the show continues pass season 1, everyone will really hate the kids especially the daughter.
