Davis powers way into 'Heroes'

By Nellie Andreeva

July 20, 2007
Dana Davis has joined NBC's hit sci-fi drama "Heroes" as a regular, playing a new hot young hero.

While her powers are being kept under wraps, it is understood that Davis' character, Monica, would give up everything to help the people around her.

On "Heroes," Davis joins another new regular, Dania Ramirez, who plays another beautiful young hero named Maya, as well as new recurring Nick D'Agosto, Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, David Anders, Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron.

This past season, Davis co-starred on ABC's critically praised "The Nine" and the CW's "Hidden Palms."

The actress, who recently wrapped the feature "Prom Night" for Screen Gems, is repped by the Gersh Agency and Marshak/Zachary.

Damn, how many more people are they going to add to this show?

I'm in love. If this is a strong female central character, I'll be in love with Tim Kring and the rest of this show for its whole lifetime.

I'm going to go watch "The Nine" right NOW.

Maybe she'll play the speeder girl, although Dania might also be another choice, I think the portrayal of her in the novels are more appropriate to Dana's look:

Good find... I hope not, though. I think speedsters are kinda corny without the speed force (or with too much, actually). Perhaps 'Heroes' can put a new spin on it, but in general, speed can be pretty boring.

Though, I imagine the personality that would bring about speed powers could be a lot of fun... still... I'd rather it be Ramirez for the speedster... something of great use for crossing the border, IF indeed the speedster is in...

And it'd be the second time Dania would find herself playing a speedster type.

Cool news! I look forward to what her power will be.

I look forward to seeing what her storyline will be...

And had better not be related to the Devauxs either... at least... not by blood. :)

So is it for certain that her power will be super speed? Or could it be something else?

If that graphic novel complements the show as much as the others did, I'm guessing she's the speedster chick indeed. Dania's character's power was announced to be something so destructive that it motivates her and her brother Alejandro to cross the border into U.S. territory... Super-speed isn't all that destructive to oneself, so I'm guessing Davis will play the speedster... And maybe Holt McCallany plays the guy with the lightning based powers? They certainly look similar.

Well then that would be great. But I'm really interestd in Dania's powers.

I think she will be a friend of Claire that would share a common bond --thier powers. she looks young enough to be a teenager even though she is probably in her 20's in real life.

She played a HS girl in "The Nine" just last season.

I don't think she'll be a 'friend of Claire.' I got the feeling that the new Characters will have their OWN storylines... however, if/when Monica (Dana's charateR) and Claire meet... they're going to hit it off AWESOMELY...

the only thing cooler would be if they DIDN'T hit it off or whatever... This girl sounds like a naive heal-the-world volunteering type, and Claire's likely a bit more cynical by now...

I kinda hope not... superspeed is kinda lame, conceptually. It rarely makes much sense. Of course, it could be cool for her to meet up with Hiro and when he puts everything in slow motion she's moving normal... THAT could be fun.

Did I mention I'm in love?

Kinda like superspeed - while flying? You know, breaking the sound barrier and all? :ninja:

Don't forget that execution is the other half of concept, and Heroes is good at the latter.

Won't mind it, as long as it fits the character, circumstances and situation, and that is also what is expected of Heroes.

Like the aforementioned example you just used.

It reminds me - if characters like Eden and Candace for instance have the opportunity to display their abilities and effect the people/environment around them, I always thought it'd have been cool, had Eden lived, to see the counterproductive aspect of her power and that is a well-informed opponent blocking his own ears so he cannot succumb to her power of persuasion.

These little details like that makes me appreciate a lot what Heroes is about.

With the number of powers on the show, one can only begin to dream of possibilities and capabilities, desiring a situation, that our heroes can possess.

Funny carrrnutt :)

But yeah, it COULD be executed properly... I mean... if the speed effect is a proper blur and the physics makes sense (it sure never has for Flash and Quicksilver) and the power, as you said, fits the situation and makes sense that way...

So now, she's Micah's cousin and has screentime with Nichelle Nichols... cool!

Perfect, I do have met heart set on a speedster.Have not seen one yet on Heroes.

I saw her in the previews... she's still gorgeous... she's going to be my reason to watch methinks...
