Where was someone getting that the new composer did Harry Potter? The first three were done by John Williams! lol And tehy were great IMO. I like the first 2 scores for the first 2 movies, hopefully they'll stay true to them as well

I just hope they keep the main theme the same as i really like it, i hated the fact that in the X-Men and Blade Trilogies we got different music in every movie, it was annoying. I hope they keep the same music as the first 2 here but just add little things to it.

Well the X2 soundtrack was basically a way better version of the first... X3 was way different but i liked it better.

i think Danny 'ol boy is a genious composer and all...but i've never really cared for his spiderman scores...i've found them to be very disposable...there are no segments of score that really stick out from the rest, like, oh say...the batman theme/score.

i say past the torch onto someone who will actually give us a good new spiderman theme.

Christopher Young scored Hellbound: Hellraiser 2's theme. Which heavily influenced Elfman's Batman theme.

you guys do know that a lot of the music has to do with teh director right?
danny has a lot of ideas. but raimi just wants always the same music. this is what i read in some article.

so even if this new composer comes in the music will still be the same. you have to understand that the reason why danny is gone is because raimi didnt want new music.
so it is only logical that this new composer will make the same music.

This is one of the many problems with sequels. Bad Boys is a prime example of this. Superb film but for the score by Mark Mancina was out of this world and to this day im still trying to get hold of a copy of it. Then Bad Boys 2 came out, Mark for whatever reason had bailed and Trevor Rabin stepped in. A great composer but his score for Bad Boys was nothing compared to the original and this very much spoilt it for me.

yeah that was a hell of a shame!

I think Mr Young has to take a good long look at what a huge reponsibility he's got especially with the whole Venom/Sandman/Love Triangles/Flashbacks and twists. Fingers crossed he'll deliver and this time next year we'll be rejoicing over a great score soundtrack!

Christopher Young's Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 is a masterpiece, way ahead of it's time. the few opening cues are just amazing.

If you like early '90s Elfman, there's a very good chance you'd love Young's work.

one of the "Hellraiser 2" themes was the reason for the Elfman/Raimi feud -
it was a temp track which raimi loved a little bit too much.
can't really blame him, because the track is really great.

In my opinion, Powell's score was the BEST part of X3
(and unlike many, I really liked X3).

Powell's score was too good for such a hectic production,
made me wish he had scored Superman Returns (which I haven't seen yet).

On the CD for the movie I like all the Phoenix songs. Those are the best ones.

Sony has the rights to use Elfman's theme.... as to whether or not the new composer will use it as a template.. has yet to be determined.

I hope he does, it feels like spider-man with elfman's theme. He should feel free to go with it a new direction but always use the main suite as the base

ex: Green goblin's theme, Ock's theme, MJ + Pete's theme were all composed using the Main suite as the base.. making all the songs interconnectible.

Christopher Young is considered a really big name in the horror film genre. I've always thought his stuff was really solid, albeit different from Elfman's current style. And yeah, he scored the train sequence in SM2 when they recut it (or were unhappy with Elfman's take), though Young's version does not appear on the soundtrack--that version is Elfman's. The reason for the falling out was because Raimi essentially brought on two other composers (John Debny for the opening pizza scene and then Christopher Young) to rescore scenes that Elfman had already scored. I think I remember reading that Raimi wanted to reuse (note for note) some of Elfman's cues from SM1

Since Sony has rights over Danny Elfman's Spider-Man theme I suspect it shall return in Spider-Man 3. Possibly the greatest and most favourite theme I have heard is Danny Elfman's score for Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. I have no doubt that Christopher Young's music for Spider-Man 3 will prove to be successful.

Correct. It wasn't just the train sequence either. Personally i dont think we will know the difference when we watch the movie.
