Justice League Danny Elfman Scoring Justice League - Part 1

There's one thing to consider, though. Danny Elfman was brought in last second to work on the score (the same thing happened on Avengers: Age of Ultron). That's definitely going to influence its outcome. Elfman's a consumate pro, so he'll make it work out. But he would have definitely done something more memorable and more creative.

I sorta work in the entertainment business, indirectly (nothing to do with movies such as this, though), and I know what it means to hammer out something at the last second vs. doing stuff at a proper pace.

I actually quite like Day of the Dead too, as well as the batmobile chase music. Those and the ones you mentioned were the standouts for me.

And beautiful lie...this is my world....thier war here....fight night....new rules...they were hunters.

Was Their War Here original track for BvS or did it use themes from MoS? I love that track!

I think it's unfair to compare the two tracks from Elfman to everything we had from Zimmer or Junkie. These two tracks aren't really themes, it feels like there are intended to be played for specifics action scenes. I mean, in MOS and BVS, there is also tracks that are less memorable than other.
Now, if we talk about artistic direction, I agree that we can start to compare and obviously we are in a new direction, but there's some much more to come...
I like to think that the previously theme created for this universe will be there. We just had MOS piano motif in the beginning of the last trailer, and a reworked version of MOS theme in the second trailer a few month ago.
Many people were freaking out when Elfman talked about reutilized JW theme, but now we heard what he did and it's litteraly ... 8 seconds of music for once again, a very specific scene. It's nothing, the MOS theme could be very well be here later, same for Batman and WW (her theme is so popular, it had to be in it)

I thought that too but while I was doing my fan edit I tried putting that theme in bvs and honestly, there is nowhere to put it and it feel natural.

Maybe so but they probably should have had a scene where it did fit. I’m not bashing on BvS cause I like the film but I think there needed to be at least one scene (probably when Supes first appears) where that theme should have been able to fit.

So...instead of following up themes that are already in place. It's easier t just create something boring and generic?
And if that was really the case they should've kept junkie in and had Elfman be the sort of middle man between he and whedon. Or something i dunno....just...ahhhhhj this sucks.

I have no issues with that one piece of music I heard. It feels kinda vintage in a way. Gotta see it with the proper scenes and all that.

No no. I respect what the Williams theme did for those movies and for Superman at that time. But **** it off out of these new ones. This is a different universe. A different superman. I thought we were past these cheap call backs.

You sound really ********. The John Williams theme is an iconic musictrack. Its not like Elfman used the whole theme, he just utilized a portion of it. If Snyder is allowed to use easter eggs throughout his movies why cant that be done in music as well?

I feel conflicted about this whole thing.

Here's an unpopular opinion: [BLACKOUT]I enjoyed Zimmer's work on MoS and BvS... but I think it added too much gravitas to those movies. Hero's Theme isn't memorable at all (unlike Zimmer's work in the DCEU) but it has some of the levity I always wanted in a Justice League film.[/BLACKOUT] So idk. It's a tradeoff for me.

I still love the MOS theme and I honestly hope it's in the film.

I Just hope we all understand that Hero’s theme is not the official theme song of the team ala Silvestri’s avenger theme. I definitely think it’s just for some scene early on in the film. Once the team is united and ready to go, he better bring the big guns because he has Han’s WWYDWYNSTW theme to go up against.

And if it is, I’ll be the first to admit that it’s super weak.

Agreed. I'm just saying jt wasn't Zimmers fault.

I don't think it's the actual JL theme. I feel "The Justice League Theme - Logos" is probably the one.

I honestly have nothing against your opinion. I thought you were talking about Elfman (calling him old and dead).

If I remember correctly, the start of the track was the new batman theme, followed by a reworked version of a MOS motif called "Arcade".
There was another part that was a copy paste of a section from the Krypton battle in MOS.
The rest was completely new (choir sections and the strings part at the end).

I know Elfman didn't use the whole theme. But he seems to have scrapped the mos/bvs themes. That's what really got me "********".

Oh if don't disagree with that.

Tbh I get the feeling Zimmer didn't enjoy his work on BvS. Maybe it was just a bit too dour for him I don't know.

We don't know that though we've heard a whopping two tracks.

I think he was just over the superhero work in general.

The thing is, even sound-wise the piece does not sound like from DCEU. It sounds... yea, vintage. Zimmer is a master of making soundtracks sound different. MoS sounds really different to Dark Knight or Amazing Spiderman 2 or Inception or Sherlock Holmes, or... You get the point. He creates signature sound.

I believe Zimmer said something along the lines of not really knowing what to do with BvS Batman as this version was darker than TDKT one. It's been a while since that interview, I might try to find it.

I don't necessarily need any of BvS scores returning, but some of the MOS tracks must be there.

"The Justice League Theme - Logos" I feel this track will be the actual JL theme.

If elfman doesn’t work out, they really should consider asking Christopher Drake to make the leap to feature films. He gets these characters.
