DareDevil

Marvel's new #1's are so annoying. They just relaunched Fantastic Four last year  And now they're doing Daredevil. You don't have to restart the series every time a new story arc starts.

I want to see Williams III do art on Daredevil, but he wouldn't fit Waid's brighter tone.

You know who I think would do a decent job, though he's still a newbie.... I think his name is Edmonton or something like that. He did Grifter when it relaunched in the New 52, and I think he's doing the new Black Widow series. I think he did Who Is Jake Ellis? I'd love to see him and Williams III get a go at it.

Didn't JH Williams III have a falling out with DC? How has Marvel not scooped him up yet?

Kinda bummed that it's being relaunched at $4. Not surprised. Just bummed. Marvel's launching a few interesting books next year. I'm not really sure I can afford to check them all out.

However, I think the character Waid alludes to being not happy with Daredevil's arrival in SF in The Punisher. Which reminds me: As happy as I am about a new Punisher book, does Marvel really think a 4 dollar Punisher book, whose first two issues double ship, is going to last very long?

So I'm thinking about buying Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson Omnibus is this run worth $65.98.

Don't those omnibus retail at about $100? That's a hell of a deal for a classic run like that.

I hate the omnibuses. They're too heavy to read comfortably. I like to lay on my bed and read my comics, but those things weigh 4,000 pounds.

The only one I owned was the Uncanny X-Men one that started with the Giant Sized X-Men 1, and I LOVED it. I had to sell it for financial reasons and hate that I did. I can't spend that kind of money anymore, but man that was an awesome book.

I have Miller's complete run in the original issues... which would cost me HUNDREDS of dollars to get today... so I'd say under $70 is worth it...

:yay:

With the exception of an issue or two, I find Miller's run in dollar bins around here.

I bet you don't find neither a DD #158 nor #168 in dollar bins... :oldrazz:

So, I've been considering getting me some Daredevil stuff to read during the holidays. I know there's Frank Miller's The Man Without Fear which is pretty much "Daredevil: Year One" and as a huge lover of Batman: YO, I'll definitely get it. I heard Born Again is pretty good too so I may check that out. How's Daredevil: Yellow? I like the Loeb/Sale duo so that's another to put on my list.

There's also this new hardcover omnibus of Miller's stuff. At 70 CAD, it's a pretty good deal. Any other suggestions?

The Bendis and Brubaker runs are great, and are collected in 3 volume collections respectively.

I would also recommend Elektra: Assassin, also by Frank Miller. Probably the greatest thing he ever wrote. With incredible art by Bill Sienkiewicz.

To sell Waid's run or not... that is the question. It isn't complete (missing about 4 or 5 issues) but Daredevil's one of my favorite characters. Yet I've not enjoyed it save for a few issues here and there since Waid came on. I normally wouldn't bother getting rid of it, but my 4-drawer filing cabinet is about full and I need to make some room. So I'm getting rid o some stuff and this is a chunk of comics I didn't quite enjoy. It'd make sense to get rid of it, but it's Daredevil. And as a character, I love Daredevil :( And it isn't like OMD here where the whole dynamic of the character changed. It's still the Daredevil I love, I just don't care for how Waid writes his comic. And it isn't like the title is bad, it just isn't as enjoyable or me as a darker toned Daredevil. But I do need to make space and there isn't much else I want to get rid of.

Confuscious say I should have taken up collecting baseball cards instead :(

How much are you asking for, and how many issues are there?

I'll PM you when I get home. Truth is though, I'm still unsure if I want to sell them or not.

Don't do baseball cards...I do them, there's not as much joy as in reading a good comic... :D
