I got this e-mail for all 2 and half waves of the new Movie Masters
(which I placed as soon as they went on sale). I wonder if Mattel is
never releaseing Two Face, Proto Batman, and the new Jokers now?:

Thank you for ordering from Entertainment Earth. We have been
notified by
the manufacturer that we will not be receiving any additional
shipments of
Batman: The Dark Knight Movie Masters Wave 5 Case, (Item MTP6167A),
because they have discontinued production of this item at this point
in time. The item has been removed from your order.

If so, I'm done with all Mattel products.

This cannot be true. I really hope this isn't true. Come on, there are plenty people who still want to buy these figures.

I sent an e-mail to BBTS to see if they had heard anything. I already dropped collecting JLU and will drop DCUC if they cancelled these

I hope this is some sort of mistake....Really, why would Mattel show these earlier in the year at the toy shows then decide to cancel them?

Happens all the time, unfortunately. There have been lots of toys shown at the shows that never see production. This news would not suprise me one bit, and would actually make my prediction true.

ahh ok...that sucks.

Guess those prototypes on ebay just got more valuable....

BBTS still has them up for sale and is taking orders. So hopefully this is just something with Entertainment Earth's cases (which were pretty unbalanced). Also, ToysRUs has the new excsluvie Joker 12" up for preorder, so the line is still going.

Ive been annoyed having to wait this long an now the chance that I'll have to pray I can find a gray prototype that I have to paint myself at double the price??....:cmad::cmad::cmad:

Just make the damn toys Mattel!! As John Conner says in T2 "Easssssy Money".

Honestly i would almost say Mattel should cancel these as in store figures and make them exclusive to Mattycollector.com. I think it would definitely make the collector community a little happier or at least i would be. I would love to just go online and click a button and order me 3 movie masters Two Face figures instead of driving all over town. They could sell the regular figures and even the variants for the same price. I would be all over that.

Yup sure enough EntertainmentEarth.com has taken the preorders for the new figures off of there site. Not even a single picture remains. That is sad but like i said i would be down if they continued this line on Mattycollector.com.

hopefully this is just an abberation,as bbts.com and toyrocket still have their preorders up for the next TDK waves....but,if they are cancelled,we'll know soon as the rest of the retailers pre-selling them will have to cancel orders real soon...

on a side note, guess that Wave 3 assortment, other than a couple overseas ebay auctions, just went into the breeze somewhere,eh? i mean, you can't even preorder them anywhere...

Wave 3 meaning the wave with the Sonar Batman figure and Scarecrow with
suit? Your right! they just kinda disappeared. I guess its ok seeing as how they were just repaints or retools whatever you want to call them. Maybe Mattel said the hell with them to focus more on the newer figures that collectors actually want.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Mattel is run by dumb f***s.

I have a few e-mails out. BBTS still has them up as doe ToyRocket and ScifiGenre

at this point i can say that i am very dissapointed being i have gone thru crazy crap to collect each movie master and now i cant even get a two face. this is sum BS X infinite. F*C mattel. god help them if they further mess up the ghostbuster line too!!! :bh:

p.s they might as well cancel them at this point because its a friggin year after already too. grrrrrrrrrrrr sux so bad...we should be able to get refunds on our movie masters. i just dont understand how everything messed up with this movie but the movie. the video game the figures etc i dunt understand how they would let this happen to a movie of this nature but yet a *****ty fantanstic 4 movie has everything.

well, the main reason they f**ked up was because they never intended the MM line to amount to much...it was just suppossed to be a little, offshoot part of the main line for collectors (the 5" kiddie line was,and remained, the main focus....when the 5" sat and MM blew off the pegs, they were caught completely off guard, and made the new focus getting more of them into production and out into stores (which i think we can say they did do quite well - indeed almost everyone finally was able to get al the figures by Fall and X-Mas)....the problem is,it takes almost a year for a figure to get from concept drawing all the way through to buying it in a store, and you figure they didn't even START looking at expanding the line until July or so last year, and that gives you no new figures til this summer...

thing now,is that TDK is,indeed,over...sure,raving loones like us will still buy whatever they put out,but the general public is already on to the next thing (the test run of the massive failure of the "BATMAN" line released in the winter showed that),so like it or not Mattel is probably weighing their options as to whether it was worth it to produce a line that will probably only appeal to a small segment of the toybuyers at this time...

don't be surprised if they said no,it's not worth it....fair to us? HELL NO! but unfortunately business is business....

for me,personally,i would've bought multiples of each...2 of each figure (1 MOC,1 opener) and 4...yes FOUR...of the proto-suit Bats:

1 - MOC
1 - as is for the collection
1 - for a custom Bruce Wayne
1 - for a custom unmasked chase TDK bats

I couldnt have said it better myself mickey1974. Mattel indeed did screw the pooch on this line. Like you said for a figure to go from concept to actual product does take just about a year or so and that is why we have no figures right now. Mattel just didnt think that the Movie masters line would be a lasting line. So obviously that tells me that the people that work for mattel or atleast the executives or marketers have no idea what people really want. Therefore like i posted early i think this line should go Mattycollector.com exclusive. Cause like you said Mattel is looking at this from a business aspect and to them the demographic that was there when the toys originally came out on May 1st 2008 are no longer there. Obviously they don't know or care that we collectors are very much indeed still here and waiting and have been waiting for a whole damn year for new figures. It really pisses me off to know how much potential this line has especially with all the amazing figures they could make still form batman begins and the dark knight but also 89' Batman, batman returns and the other two craptastic flicks. But what can we do eh. Oh yeah and dont forget a proto suit bats for a custom unmasked chase batman begins batman with cloth wired cape!!!

sad truth is that mass-marke toy companies AREN'T looking at us,the collector's...they're looking for the kids dollars...now,there are some exceptions (MM,G.I. Joe,DCUC) ,but 95% of the stuff out there is for kids...

i wholeheartedly agree: these should be Mattycollector exclusives...but what will hurt the most is them showing all those proto's at Toy Fair this year, and for them not to come out? sucks major league balls....and all the hints/rumors from Mattel and the 4H themsleves about branching out into the old Bat-films and Superman films was obviously a bunch of crap....

i mean,it's a year later: we should be talking about and buying series' (plural) of Movie Masters by now....instead,we've gotten no new figures since July, and the last new item (the batpod) came out before X-Mas...part of me thinks they WANT the line to die,so they can move onto other things, and if they keep pushing us off we'll all just quit bugging them for it and it will just die...

They should just sell off the rest as monthly sets on Mattycollector and do some of the figures as Con exlusives to promote the line and re-ignite interest.

Month One: Harvey Dent, BR Joker, Proto Bats.

Month Two: Two Face, Jail Cell Joker, TDK Scarecrow.

Month Three: 12" Joker Resculpt.

Con Exclusive: Final Battle Batman, Joker resculpt.

Con Exclusive: Trench Coat Gordon.

Con Exclusive: Ra's Al Ghul

Collectors would welcome buying direct from Mattel instead of retail. Getting the first few waves was a nightmare.

If these sets sold well on Matty, they could easily expand the line by more accurately guaging fan interest. This approach has worked amazingly well with MOTUC.

personally,i'd like to only see 1 per month or every 2 months...at like $20 + a pop with shipping, and most people wanting at least 2,that'll add up REAL quick! :woot:

You would have to be ****ing crazy to pay 30 dollars for one MM. With no accessories, 12 dollars was quite a stretch indeed.

2 packs? You might have something there.

being online exclusives,i guarantee they won't be less than $15 each...add in shiiping, and you top $20...

I for one am glad they're "probably" cancled. Just got layed off and wouldn't have the money for them if they did get released, and having purchased the first couple of lines, having these in my collection would be a neccessity and a huge headache coming up with the loot for it

so yes, glad they got cancled. Good deal

The 13" Joker doesn't appear to be cancelled and it might just be the cases EE had.

I agree with you Batman1939us. I do think that the 13" joker is not canceled as how its a toys r us exclusives just like the batman figure released last year and the unmasked chase. And i was thinking about the whole entertainmentearth deal. Maybe EE just got screwed by Mattel and they simply said we will not be producing a large quantity of these figures and unfortunately your batch will be canceled. EE was always bad with timing with there cases. I would always pre order upcoming figures and then a month before EE says there going to be released i would find them in the store. I ran into this problem very frequently. Then i would have to email EE and cancel my order and explain to them that i already found the item at retail and no longer needed to order the case. Im sure this really has to hurt them. As you can see by there website they are still sitting on a lot of old Movie Masters because same thing happened. They put a release date and then they hit the mass retailers a month or so early. So this may be the case for EE and Mattel may be just looking to either get these out to more mass retailers or Mattycollector.com. I guess only more time will tell. However Toysrus.com does have the 13inch joker for preoder with a release date of June 13th i believe. So i guess we'll see if that falls through as well.
