Dark Knight Movie Masters Cancelled?

I would take anything from LOG with a grain of salt. They are the ones who posted the Keaton Movie Master as a true story. The guy who runs the site is also a bully that got booted from sites like RTM.

I believe I've ordered from them a few times before, I recall them being pretty good.

That's a good idea Mikey, thanks for the tip. Just might try it.

not trying to "toot" my own horn, but i was pleasantly surprised how it came out...

We have mattel representatives on LoG that post frequently and give us inside info. This is where the info on this latest development came from. Its the same as the insiders that give info to sites like AFI and POA. The Keaton MM thing was reported by just about every collector site. It was an internet prank and was pulled immediately upon being found out to be bogus. Ive known Matt for 5 years now and have never known him to be a "bully". Seems you have a personal problem with him for whatever reason and it has no place in this thread.

Ask about LOG on any site but LOG for his reputation. That's not the issue and I coulod care less about him and his site. The issue is that LOG is the site the reported the MM Keaton (and watermarked the hell out of it like every image, even stolen magazine scans) and that was picked up in threads on other sites as links, not reported by any of the other site owners. There's no word from any Mattel rep on any site and my point is I don't trust anything reported by LOG outside of an Ask Mattel Thread. If he had contacts he could reach out to that fast, that story would not have lasted that long or even been posted.

Here's an answer that isn't anonymous from an "Ask Mattel"

Kastor: Some online stores have listed Gordon as an upcoming Movie Masters figure. Are there any pictures or approximate timeframes when we will see him in stores?

Matty: We did look into doing a Gordon figure but until we get stronger commitments from retailers to carry more Movie Masters we won’t be going forward. We are working hard at this to try and get retailers interested in more figures though as we really want to get to Gordon and others.

I fail to see what your opinion on LoG has to do with anything. You do seem bitter over something, and to be honest, i could care less what it is. I remember the Keaton MM thing, big deal. It was pulled and retracted once it was found out it was fake, which as I recall, was in a days time. I think thats pretty fast. LoG does have industry insiders who post, they have even had live chats with them. Dont try to discredit LoG and its administrators, like shado, just because you have a bug up your ass.

Also, what you posted is no different from what was posted by shadowbat. they are trying to figure out what to do, cuz these arent getting released at retail. you have provided nothing.

More retailers would be interested in carrying Movie Masters if they had been released over a steady period of time when the movie was still in the forefront of peoples mind. The last wave of MM figures came out in July. Its been over a year since the first wave was released and Mattel actually expect retailers to keep wanting more merchandise for a film that came out last year when there are many more blockbusters with new merchandise coming out this year.

This thread isn't about LOG, even though that's what people from that site like to do. But, I don't care about LOG and stopped visiting as you get these kinds of people posting. Their track record on fake stories and self-hype does speak for itself, though.

What I posted was also a direct quote from Mattel and not some 3rd hand "insider info". That's the difference. My point is that they spread the MM Keaton news so their "sources" are less than reliable outside of the same "Ask Mattel" every other site has access too.

wheres the link to this source? you just posted something and added names. the same info that was already being talked about. also, the Keaton thing was found on the web and reported by LoG, it wasnt exclusive to them, they were not the first to post that. I guess they are the only site on the internet to ever post a bogus story huh? that keaton was never given to them from "an inside source"

again, you just seem hell bent on critisizing and trying to ruin a reputation of some trusted and respected people

See, this is what LOG and the fanatics there do. I'm not going to get into an argument with you, but if you want to be accurate, Matt claimed someone with "Inside info" sent him that pic, which he watermarked. Every other site picked it up from him. LOG is neither trusted or respected. Ask around at RTM, Fwoosh, etc. My link was from Kastor Korner's May Ask Mattel. So I'm done arguing with LOG zombies. I avoid that board because of morons like you and was just trying to post what I was sent from Entertainment Earth and was trying to see if anyone had heard anything definitive from Mattel. Looking at your post history, 90% of your posts seem to be arguing with people. If that's what you have the time for, good luck with that. This is a hobby for me and I'm trying to share, find info. Not bicker with weird little people which is why I stopped even viewing LOG (and becuase 90% of the posts are odd self promotion)

Does it really matter? Honestly? Basically the same information has been revealed. Retailers dont want to carry anymore of these figures so Mattel has to figure out how and if they are going to distribute them. This is just another Mattel failure. Hasbro should have been allowed to keep the lisence.

I agree 100%. I'm hoping they get these out like the DCUC 2 packs over Mattycolletor exclusives. That way, we'd at least get a good chance to get them

Unless its like the Masters of the Universe stuff You have to grab that the minute it becomes available or else you miss out due to low production. Its a shame, Mattel has one of the greatest toy licenses and they just keep screwing it up! I sometimes wonder why WB allows this to go on, it is money out of their pocket too.

The only way Mattel would have a chance to redeem themselves with this line is to freshen up the idea for the damn retailers. Get some new packaging going. You want to market the line as Batman Movie Masters or Batman Hall of Fame or something. They just need to sell this as a new line to the retailers. Tell them the line will span from the dark knight to batman forever to the 1960's camp tv show. Because if retailers just hear The Dark Knight figures theirs no way in hell they will give Mattel shelf space since there figures are still taking up shelf space more than a year later. It must be presented to them as a new line. But like Amored Avenger said there are so many other blockbusters coming out that they simply do not have the room. Perhaps after the summer is over mattel then can pitch the new idea and get some shelf space. One would only hope.

indeed...perhaps for the fall/Christmas season? maybe call it Legends of the Dark Knight...have 5 - 6 figures per wave, and NO MORE GODDAMNED CHASE VARIANTS!!!

like you said, problem is they've (rightfully) moved on,as last summers big toys (Iron Man,TDK,Incredible Hulk,Indiana Jones) are on clearance, cleared out for THIS year's new stuff (Star Trek,Terminator,X-Men Origins,Transformers,GI Joe),and they have little to zero interest in rehashing past stuff...the only line that continues to do that successfully is Star Wars, due to "refreshing" the line every year with a new theme or media tie-in and an absoultely rabid fanbase......

Hey Mikey1974, I think you and me should go apply for a job at Mattel lol because obviously those idiots don't have a single clue to what the hell collectors want. I also agree on the name Legends of The Dark Knight. Or Legends of The Dark Knight with Movie Masters in smaller print below the main header. I only say add the movie masters tag to it just in case Mattel ever decided to expand the line say into the Christopher Reeve Superman films. And yes no more damn chase figures just add the figure into the regular wave of figures, and 5-6 figures per wave would be great. I mean they do it with DC universe classics, why not with this line? I tell ya Mattel really has there heads up there asses.

indeed, they screwed the pooch.....i'd actually like the MOVIE MASTERS to be the main, larger title for these, then with the "Legends of the Dark Knight" name below it,as the sub-title as it were...also think "The Superman Legacy" would work for any Kal-El related stuff, and with Jonah Hex in production,Green Lantern looking like a go real soon, and some decade that Wonder Woman movie coming, they could just plug the new movie figures into the MM umbrella....of course,we're getting way ahead of ourselves, since they can't even get more than 2 series worth of 7 figures (including chases) out in more than a year...

Ahh if only they had brains. I do like the idea of the MOVIE MASTERS being the main title this way like you said they could just add the sub-title below it for whatever DC Movie is out at the time like green lantern or the next batman or potentially another superman or a re-boot. But this line would obviously work and it would make Mattel Huge money and a lot of collectors extremely happy. But your right they could barely squeeze out 2 waves let alone do a whole line dedicated to DC movie related characters. I just dont get it man.

I just hope I can find a job before these get released (should they get released at all)

sadly (?) i still look at these figures every time i go into my collection room, and i think what could've been, even if we did only get figures from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight...

Ra's Al Ghul
Ducard
Gordon
Bruce Wayne
Bruce and Ducard in League of Shadows ninja gear (1 being regular,1 the chase variant)

Nurse Joker
Gordon in SWAT uniform
brown suit Scarecrow
more Joker Thugs

..and that's not including the figures already anounced/cancelled/on hold....it's a damn travesty, when i look at all the movie toys from last year, and the ones from this year, and we only got 5...FIVE...collector figures from the biggest movie of the year/decade?! Jesus Christ,Star Trek had 10 of their 6" collector's line figures out AT LAUNCH!

sigh....as i look at them,i both pat myself on the back for my ingenuity at making customs of a lot of the figures now perhaps not coming out...and i also curse myself for not buying 3 or 4 more thugs so i could make some more of the customs i inevitably will need to,since Mattel won't be giving us ****...

and it saddens me a bit knowing that, likely, the last piece of my TDK collection will arrive next month ( HT Two-Face) and that 'll be it for me...:csad:

It sounds like we will eventually get the ones shown. I would have liked a Ra's
