I'm starting to think that the first version of the movie with the Phoenix being more about fire instead of cosmic light would have been better. The UN and Spaceship scenes looked doped.

How come they ruined the movie by making this new version?

But the reshoots happened before Captain Marvel has its first trailer and the first version of the movie happened before it was even shot....the CM comparisons are all hindsight.

More than hindsight, I suspect strongly that they are an excuse invented retroactively by Kinberg to shift blame.

I'm hearing a lot stuff on the internet that this movie was supposed to be 2 movies but one of the companies providing money to make the movie left and they had to cut to just 1 movie, then disney made they cut 30 minutes of the film. It's a miracle we got this movie at all to be honest.

Actually voicing the concerns, perhaps, but it's likely studio people knew what was in Captain Marvel long before the public did. News trickles out to the mainstream, but behind the scenes...studio espionage and all that.

I doubt Disney had much to do with it, but it's just a shame that the situation happened the way it did. A two part X-Men movie that moved into more cosmic/sci-fi territory would have been really cool to see come to fruition.

I’m telling you Disney did not cut the 30 minutes. Disney did not order it to be cut. Disney gave no such direction. Hence, Disney is at no such fault.

Was the Dazzler scene originally longer?

It didn't really dazzle at all, looked like confetti or light snowfall, very bland...

It was at this party scene that the movie shifted tone dramatically I thought. Everything was set at night, and the scale/scope seemed to shrink.

Slightly, she had about one more part that would have ended her first song, with her putting her hand up towards the air. The plasma lights were on display a bit more as there was another angle from below panning up towards her.

With ALL this deleted material do you guys think it's possible that they'll release an extended cut of Dark Phoenix?

Deadpool 2 got an Extended Cut which is even better than the theatrical version, in that extended version we get to see more of the x-mansion and what the kids went through in the Essex facility.

I haven’t heard a chance of an extended version but I’m hearing rumblings of a UN cut however it won’t have completed effects. The effects were around 90% completed anyway.

Yeah, I don't think Disney or Fox would spend more money on Dark Phoenix since they're losing 100 millions. So scenes like the UN that needs visual effects I doubt they'd put in a extended version. But scenes like Beast visiting Mystique grave or Vuk in the church that we saw in the first trailer should be easy to put in the movie. In terms of action I'm good, I just want more context, more conversation scenes.

Not too sure about that. I’d say both cuts are the “Kinberg Cut” and he thought it was weak himself which is why he wanted the reshoots.

Well, Director version is different from Extended version. In Director's version we get to see the movie how the Director wanted instead of what the Studio wanted. In the Extended version we get to see just more scenes from the version that we saw in the theater (maybe a change here or there).

But the released version is the director version... his own words, paraphrased as they are, were “it tested badly and then someone leaked the whole thing on reddit. To be honest, they were right, it was long and empty and there was a lot of conflict left unresolved”.

Then he proceeded to tell my why it was empty and that’s when the two parter conversations came about.

I'd love to see the 2 hour and 30 minutes movie that was intended to be released and not this shorter version that we got. Hope they do it digital and blu-ray.
