Dark X-Men

there is already a thread for this it should be at the bottom on this page

I think the last couple issues of X-Men: Legacy must be pretty goddamn interesting if that's Chuck up front. Someone on Newsarama suggested it was Sebastian Shaw with his head shaved, which is possible, I guess, but kind of odd.

It could be Shaw if he can get out of his cell, break Emma psychic hold on him, and Namor and Emma on that team.

I heard about this a couple days ago, then I actually saw it in Marvel Previews. We already have the Dark Avengers, now we're getting the Dark X-Men, and honestly it looks pretty cool. The roster is very random, but thats partly what makes this book very interesting.

Namor
Emma Frost
Mimic
Cloak
Daggar
Daken
Weapon X? Is this supposed to be Michael Pointer AKA The Gaurdian
Dark Beast

Many of these characters have not been used in quite some time, and if used its been sparingly. We still get A-listers and regularly used in Namor, Emma, and Daken. I'm the most excited about Mimic, I've wanted Marvel to dust him off and use him already, and they finally are. Cloak & Daggar has been used here and there in Runaways, New Avengers, Civil War, but not much has actually been done with them. Dark beast was last seen shortly before Messiah Complex and Excalibur way back before House of M. If Weapon X is Michael Pointer, then I think Dark X-Men is a way better fit for him then Flight, plus if he is Weapon X, then that frees up the Gaurdian Identity for Flight. Emma and Namor are in the Cabal together, and like Wolverine Daken has to be in multiple titles, joking aside he's a perfect fit. One last interesting observation, many of these characters are "questionable mutants"; Namor, Mimic, Cloak & Daggar.

It's been confirmed on multiple occasions that Namor has an X-gene.

Mimic, on the other hand, has never been a mutant in the 616 reality, as far as I know.

Ya this will not be its own title, just a storyline within the x-men books

Thats not actually true Corp. There has never been a confirmation that Mimic ISNT mutant. Mimic's powers were activated because of his fathers chemicals/machine. Mimic gained powers earlier than a mutant would, which is usually around puberty, my theory and I think many other peoples theory that believe Mimic is actually a Mutant, is that his fathers experimants only activated his sons mutant powers earlier than expected and maybe even amplified them. This same theory goes for Cloak and Daggar, one other explination is that Mimic, Cloak & Daggar only had a latent x-gene, that was not strong enough to ever actually manifest, and would never actually have manifested if it wasnt for the experiments/procedures that Mimic, Cloak & Daggar all went through. If you go to wikipedia (yea I know wikipedia isnt the end all be all for info, but when it comes to comics they are pretty spot on. Wikipedia has Mimic labeled as a Human Mutant or Human Mutate (contested). This really has no baring but, as we've seen in Exiles, Mimic IS a MUTANT in every other reality we've seen a Mimic in, he was the Big M, the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants in on reality. For this simple fact, I would say that Mimic is actually a mutant. I also think that Marvel will give us answers to these "are they really mutant questions" in Dark X-Men, that is one reason why I'm so stoked about this mini.

Oh and yes Namor has been confirmed to have an X-gene, but it was disputed for a long time, Namor is kinda the king of "is this character really a mutant". So my point is that you got the King of questionable mutants leading a team half consisting of questionable mutants. My point is that, I dont think its a coincidence that these questionable mutants are all on the same team, with the original questionable mutant leading them. That is enough to tell me that Mimic is still questionable, if he wasnt, he wouldn't even be on the team. It's not like he was in high demand before, same goes for Cloak and Daggar, there is a stronger reason as to why these 3 are on the Dark X-Men, and its because they are all questionable mutants. Namor actually just sent one of his citizens to San Fransisco to be trained by the X-Men, an Atlantean teenager, who manifested powers in his teens, so it is safe to say Namor is a mutant.

The team consists of "questionable mutants"

Namor
Mimic
Cloak
Daggar

and "bad mutants"

Emma Frost
Dark Beast
Daken
Weapon X ? Michael Pointer

If Taskmaster wasnt getting so much love lately (trust me, I'm not complaining), he would be a great fit for Dark X-men, he is a questionable mutant and he's also morally gray.

If Weapon X is Pointer, he's not a bad mutant. Pointer was trying to atone for his actions as the Collective when he was recruited for Omega Flight.

Also, the Dark X-Men mini-series is basically like the Dark Reign: The Cabal one-shot that just came out. It's going to have short stories about each member of the team. The actual story of the Dark X-Men is going to be in Uncanny X-Men.

I understand that, I was actually gonna make a seperate category for redeemable mutants, but Pointer is really the only one, so I felt it was unnesassary. I also put Weapon X under bad, because it isnt confirmed that, Weapon X is Michael Pointer. I figure it is because the suit Weapon X is wearing looks similar to the Gaurdan suit.

By forming his own team of mutants, isn't Norman Osborn sorta stepping on Val Cooper's toes? Mutant affairs in the United States are her territory, and ONE is a separate department from HAMMER.

So if each Dark Avenger represents a Good Avenger...

Iron Patriot - Ironman
Venom - Spider-Man
Bullseye - Hawkeye
Moonstone - Ms. Marvel
Daken - Wolverine
Ares - Hercules
Sentry - Thor
Marvel Boy - Captian Marvel

Does the same go for the Dark X-Men...

Namor - Cyclops/???
Emma Frost - Emma Frost
Mimic - Angel/Rogue/???
Cloak - Nightcrawler/???
Daggar - Dazzler/???
Daken - Wolverine
Dark Beast - Beast
Weapon X - Gaurdian

These would be my guesses as to who each character would somewhat represent.

Thoughts?

I don't think it's that cut-and-dried. The Dark X-Men, aside from Daken and probably Dark Beast, aren't impersonating anyone like the Dark Avengers are. Most of them have been recognized as heroes in their own right, so the public would easily buy them as a hero team.

Also, the Sentry and Ares aren't impersonating anyone either. As far as the public knows, they're the only "good" Avengers who decided to stay with the reorganized government team.

Maybe ONE got reorganized into a branch of HAMMER. As far as I understand it, HAMMER's in charge of pretty much everything related to superhumans of any kind in the United States now.

And Osborn is a greedy, schizo control freak. 'Nuff said. (Or, more said, it might be a way of further strengthening Emma/Namor's own faction to further unravel the unity of the Dark Illuminati. I get the "evil guys will destroy themselves in a backstabbing party" vibe from that.)

Actually I think fraction implied that it will be scott's inate dickishness with X-Force that's gonna force osborn to do this. I wouldn't mind a reality check for scott. It would be cool to read an X-book other than X-factor.

I heard that the Dark X-Men are a response to X-Force, too (hypocritical though it may be, given that Osborn's got the Thunderbolts for exactly the same reason). But I still think the Illuminaughty are eventually going to implode.

Personally I think it'll go a different way with Doom, Hood (Dormammu), Osborn vs. Loki, Namor and the heroes.

Why would Doom side with the Hood and Osborn? He and Loki seem pretty tight.

Dormammu. Doom's served dormammu in the past and loki ****ing hates that guy. The minute loki finds out who's backing the hood (if his character is taken into account in the slightest, which I know, I'm asking for alot with) there'll be a fallout.

In fact Dormammu/Doom almost took over existence but were stopped by Dr. Strange/Spider-man. So I figure we'd get a change up on sides with

Dormammu/Hood + Hood's Union
Doctor Doom
Osborn + Dark Avengers

Vs.

New Avengers
Namor
Loki + Mighty Avengers

Or at least that's where I'd like to see this go.
