I know he's being set up as the big bad of the DCEU, but I still think it'd be cool to get Darkseid in some capacity on the show. Hell, since Superman is actually on the show, it'd actually be pretty easy to pull off. I can't help but feel it'd be a massive wasted opportunity if they don't go for it at some point.

Thoughts?

I think it's highly, HIGHLY unlikely, BUT...the storyline where he tries to recruit Kara to be one of the Furies could be cool and different for the show.

If anything though, with the number of times they've reference Warworld, I think it's almost more likely that they could substitute Mongul into a Darkseid story for the show, since I doubt the DCEU will bother with him anytime soon.

You pretty much just read my mind. That storyline is what made me create this thread. It'd be some pretty awesome ground for Supergirl to cover...her having to deal with the guilt of being Darkseid's pawn even though it wasn't her fault and all that. If handled correctly, it could be an extremely compelling angle.

And yes, sadly that seems like it'll end up being the case. It's a good thing Mongul may have the opportunity to shine, it just sucks he'll likely be treated as a fill in for Darkseid as you said, which is a shame because he's such an awesome villain. Hopefully, though, they make him look good and not just like a poor man's Darkseid (or Thanos since Jim Starlin did create both characters).

Yeah, Mongul's awesome in his own right, but I think he just has so many surface similarities to Darkseid, the temptation for the writers to go with more famous Darkseid stories using him might be too great to resist. Especially when looking at what other Berlanti shows *cough*Arrow*cough* have done, lol.

And the Fury!Kara thing could be absolutely great. Like the emotional fallout we got with RedK!Kara on steroids. And hey, we've gotten Kara vs. brainwashed Supes, seems almost inevitable we'll get Supes vs. brainwashed Kara eventually. And he could even win that time! Surely that would placate some of those people currently waving their pitchforks. ;)

Right again you are....hell, on the surface he pretty much IS Darkseid. Ruthless? Check. Tyrant? Check. Stone-face and helmet? Check-check. :funny:

Who knows? Maybe it can still manifest into something awesome?

Most of all, I just hope they don't go the "giving him a human look/body" route. So, so lame when they do that.

He even has his own planet. :funny:

And arguably the best Superman story. One you could easily adapt for Supergirl...

But knowing Berlanti, he'll do Darkseid with Mongul, and then a season or two later, just bring in Darkseid. :funny:

Darkseid unlikely I'd say but Granny Goodness and the female furies very likely IMO. Especially as we've seen Supergirl already visit other worlds, you could do a whole season arc just on that alone.

I actually think Mongul is one we will see. Berlanti shows love to drop little things in then develop them later. They teased Ra's Al Ghul a few times in early seasons Arrow before he finally showed up in Season 3. Superman mentioning War World is probably the first seed.

2nd seed: Mon-El mentioned it first in the episode with Draaga. :woot:

I agree, I think Mongul is pretty likely at some point. Probably not next season, but likely S4 or S5.

Oh yeah! :woot:

I don't want Darkseid in the CW DC universe. It would end up being something very watered down. I don't want him briefly appearing in a cloud form that takes on the comic appearance for a second, but then just has a human body the rest of the time. We saw that crap on Smallville with him possessing Lionel Luthor.

And he was defeated so easily simply by Clark learning to fly for the first time, and flying at him. If that's all it takes to defeat him, Supergirl is going to have a very easy time.

under stood. Hopefully Mon gul won't be water down ether.

Both him and Dark sied are near equal when giving superman trouble. hope fully they reall y play up his obsession with hating super man. yes it's kara's show but they need to play up this part and make clear that his eye of hate and obsession are for clark. doesn't mean kara can't fight him though.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. In Smallville's case, it really sucked that they handled Darkseid so poorly because the build-up to the series finale was pretty damn awesome. Even the finale itself was pretty good save for how they handled Darkseid's defeat.

Whether we get Darkseid or Mongul or both, I sincerely hope the possession crap isn't implemented. It's such a piss-poor way of handling such a major and iconic supervillain.

Instead of Darkseid just deal with his generals. Granny Goodness and the Female Furies would be the way to go.

I've been thinking if the CW can do Gorilla Grodd and King Shark they sure as hell could do Darkseid. Let's say they do a full or half a season building up the minions of Darkseid, it could start quite small with one his minions attacking Earth, say Kalibak for example. The season could then build up with the minions setting up the return of Darkseid, maybe it's like 'The Great Darkess Saga' where he's basically dead and they're trying to resurrect him. We could see teases of him coming back, short cameos therefore keeping the CGI to a minimum, then in the final episode of the season/mid-season Darkseid finally arrives through the Boomtube and its up to Supergirl and Superman to stop him. They need to send him back through the boom tube, like in 'Justice League War' but less violent of course, the final shot is of Superman and Supergirl punching Darkseid back through the boomtube saving Earth from another alien threat.

Now doing it this way not only would we get a wonderful recreation of the comic panel from 'The Great Darkness Saga' above but we would also get a great storyline carrying us through for the season (or half a season), with a true focus to it something I feel was lacking in Season 2. Although I don't think we could ever see this storyline until maybe Season 4 or 5 given the Justice League movie is on on the horizon. But I have definitely changed my mind about them not doing it as I think this way would be the best way to do it.

That'd be a nice way to build up to Darkseid. Eventually you have to show the main man himself. Imo, you can only go so far with Granny Goodness and the Furies.

To be clear are we talking about all of Dark seid general's aka dark seid's elite ?

Darkseid's Elite

Members[edit]

Some of his elite include:

  • Amazing Grace - A master manipulator, Glorious Godfrey's younger sister, who once managed to brainwash Superman.
  • Bane of Apokolips -
  • Brola - An elite shock trooper.
  • Desaad - A sadistic torturer.
  • Devilance - The god of the hunt, who was seemingly killed by Lobo during the events of 52.
  • Doctor Bedlam - A pure energy being, who inhabits a neverending series of artificial bodies.
  • Glorious Godfrey - A master manipulator, mostly adept at bending huge masses of people to his will.
  • Granny Goodness - The founder of the Female Furies and keeper of the horrid orphanages in Apokolips.
  • Kalibak - Darkseid's eldest son, a thuggish brute.
  • Kanto - A master assassin and "Preening clotheshorse", as Darkseid once described him.
  • Mantis - A bug-like warrior, one of New Genesis' insect people.
  • Mortalla - A servant of Darkseid who can induce sleep with one hand and death with another: she was once a mortal, but was heavily modified to serve him.
  • Steppenwolf - Darkseid's uncle, now general in his armies. He once killed Izaya's beloved wife.
  • Titan - A green giant.
  • Virman Vundabar - An expert strategist and sycophant, who emulates the appearance and mannerisms of a Prussian officer.

or just the furies ?

seeing this show likes to show the women alot, even on the villains side and when you think about it, the only general's of the furies is Granny Goodness. The furies aren't Generals

We will never see Darkseid on this series...quote me. ;)

I agree. But I still say we will see Mongul and they may "borrow" Darkseid elements in his portrayal.

well that's some what true. but truth be told those were similar enough as it is already. the only difference is mon gul doesn't have an inner circle called the Elite . or major enmeies like the new god's cause his enemies were wiped out. when they took out the first war world planet.

he and dark sied do have children and the only difference there is that one of dark sied kids was traded of as child as piece offering and became the hero Orion his worst enemy. daeid seid has 4 kids

mon gul kids all three stayed with him and stayed evil. one was named mon gul the second.

I do think War World will come into play this next season. They have mentioned 2x this last season....that would be interesting.

yes I believe so as well . It'll give both clark and kara some much needed kick ass time there too. Mon gul senor has something similar to para demon's too among his force and gladiators from what they showed with justice league action.
