David Fleming & John Murphy/The Score & Composer Thread

So the choice has already been made, but he doesn’t outright say it’s Murphy. Interesting…

Probably John Murphy, probably Tyler Bates, but I'm hoping it's someone different.

Ludwig Göransson would be ideal... maybe Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross? They've been going outside of their comfort zone recently with Soul.

Praying its not Murphy. Ive been thoroughly unimpressed with Murphy in TSS and Vol 3. BATES on the other hand would kill it.

I honestly didn't remember that first track when I was watching the movie, but that does sound great.

One 'out there' pick for me is probably Mac Quayle.

Lorne Balfe for me. Currently one of my favorite working movie composers. He's a student of Zimmer's and has been cranking out some banger scores. If y'all have not listened to his Tetris score, LAWD.

Bates is the actual bottom of the barrel for me, but neither would be preferable.

I’d kind of like Benjamin Wallfisch. His score for the first Shazam felt like it was deliberately evoking Williams’s Superman, so I’d be interested in knowing what he’d bring to a fresh take.

YES! I was going to suggest Wallfisch as well. I'm very very eager to see what he cooked up for The Flash and depending on that, he could shoot up to the top of my wish list.

Ludwig would probably be my top pick, but I wouldn't mind Wallfisch.

I'm still hoping it's my guy Joseph Trapanese.

Also Sarah Schachner blew me away with her Prey score. I still think about it every day.

I’ve been listening to lots of 90s style boss music lately and I feel like a lot of inspiration can be taken from that era for a Brainiac theme

Most think they can pretty much can guess what we're gonna get, ie, a pretty good selection of classic rock songs and a new or updated theme.

The thing is Gunn may surprise us all by doing something new.
I wouldn't bet on anything for certain.

I want someone like Gorensen who’ll bring a totally different vibe.

As for soundtrack, I don’t like treating Supes like Captain America, plucked from another era, but I think Gunn may want to have foot in the 80s still, given his Donner love, so perhaps Clark could have really dated taste, basically whatever CDs his parents had at home. Could definitely picture an opening montage set to Valen Halen’s Jump.

And maybe he can get some “cool” playlist recommendations from gen z Jimmy, injecting some youthful energy into the film. Bad Bunny or whatever the kids are listening to these days.

And Lex seems the type to blast Kanye at obscene levels while working out. “I am a God” or whatever that song.

Oh bad bunny would be so good for Jimmy! I could see him being remade as a tiktoker. Hey you can hate it but that’s what modern media is these days.

Lex, what are tech bros listening to these days? Like I could see him listening to ten audio books at the same time about how reducing sleep improves productivity by ten or something

Does Lex need someone else to explain to him how to sleep better and be more productive? I get the idea though and I could see something like it.

Lex with classical music works but it is kind a cliche with the evil genius loving classical music.

Lex might be a man with no time for music or the arts, he might buy the most expensive paintings and have the greatest musicians play at his Galas but It could be fun that he truly has no care or interest in the arts at all, his mind is too busy that silence is what he loves... which could also be something that you can juxtapose with Superman and his love for arts and culture but also never really getting silent time as he hear the worlds problems.
