David Goyer hired to write Man of Steel

I hope its its more like Smallville Luthor, rather than Donnerverse Luthor.

I don't know if the idea of an established Superman is a good one. Origin stories are so successful because we feel like we learn and grow with the character.

I'd be surprised, personally, if its an established Supermanala SUPERMAN LIVES or RETURNS. It could be something like Burtons first Batman movie and just kind of ignore the origin but start at the beginning.

Yeah I think they should start it out with an already established Superman being new to the public, and then maybe a few hints about his where he came from in the dialogue, but we definitely don't need to spend the first hour showing Krypton and Smallville again.

As far as Goyer writing it goes, I'm definitely okay with it, he did do well with Batman Begins. Although I think it would be wise to have another screenwriter do a re-write to fix any unnessary one-liners.

And reguarding how this will affect his work with Batman 3, if the rumors are true that a first draft of the script has been turned in, I think he is finished with his role in the production. He has helped come up with the story and I don't think him helping with any future re-writes will be necessary.

It also said that it will involve more Kryptonian mythology.

I think while it will feature an already established Superman......we will see his origin in flashbacks as we learn more about the Kryptonian mythology/history....

If there is going to be a huge Krypton backstory, I think it is safe to say his origin is going to, at the very least, be mentioned.

Agreed.

Its not worth reading, it is basically the SAME FILM-diaglogue and everything-aside for:

-before Batman beats down criminals at the docks, he scares the bejesus out of Falcone and in his men in an alley.
-Gordon never drives the Batmobile, rather punches out Flass and steals their car instead
-Batman and Ra's fight on the roof the train, rather than in it, withslightly different dialogue.

Everything else is the same.

Also Batman first meeting with Rachel was at her apartment.

If Goyer's pitching ideas and isn't writing it, fine.

Based on Byrne though? Uhhh...

yeah, either Superman or Jor-El. If they want a younger Superman, Hamm would make a perfect Jor-El IMO.
Yeah but I'd rather not waste him on a character of that size. I'd rather have him as the lead in a DC movie

HOLY ****! This is awesome! :woot: We'll finally see Lex Luthor done right and get Brainiac, nice. So is it called just "The Man of Steel," or "Superman: The Man of Steel?"

Well thats basically all we needed to hear.

The Chris Nolan mentoring "rumor" is starting to look more and more like reality.

Awesome.

Also the inclusion of Brainiac!

Finally!! Some NEWS!!

I'm a bit disappointed when it said it won't be an "origin" movie.

However, that doesn't mean we won't see Superman's origin in the film.

It also said that it will involve more Kryptonian mythology.

at least.....I hope so.....

One thing I hoped they learned from SR is that you can't automatically assume the audience will be familiar with the characters......I hope they don't make that mistake again.

In regards to the origin, don't forget, I don't think they can do one at this juncture unless they settled behind the scenes already.

wooow stop. we dont know that. :cwink:

it's not so much AICN, but more from Tull.

but we'll see. everybody denies everything these days.

uuuuugggghhhhhh goyer is such a mediocre writer! if he's involved with the script, i hope he doesnt do the final draft.

He wrote Blade 1 and 2 which were great, yeah and Blade: Trinity but this is a Superman film which is supposed to be epic and exciting and adventurous. I can definitely see David Goyer writing it. :word:
