It`s not a gimmick. It`s a start on the technollogy that it is going to put you inside the movies.

I'll agree with this once they I see Avatar in 3-D.....without the glasses. And it is the future of movies, then Hollywood is already bringing it to the lowest common denominator. James Cameron himself says this.

“There’s an evolution, and people are starting to not accept inferior forms, which is good. But it’s typical of Hollywood to get it wrong. We do a film that’s natively authored in 3D — it’s shot in 3D. So they assume from the success of that, that they can just turn movies into 3D. In 8 weeks. You know, just throw a switch on 3D and that’s gonna work somehow. If you wanna make a movie in 3D, MAKE the movie in 3D. It should be a filmmaker-driven process and not a studio-driven process.”

Gimmicks are tools. Whether you consider 3D to be a fad is irrelevant to it's function.

This is the equivalent of "Vegetables are food. Potato Chips aren't"

Not really. it would be more like Vegetables are food and Salt isn't. CG is part of the meal. 3D is a condiment.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can describe something without involving emotions or feelings.

You people realize there's already a thread devouted to this 3d debate right? :whatever:

^And it was still ten times worse than the average blockbuster movie.

I disagree. I consider the "average" blockbuster movie to be garbage like Transformers. The "average" being pumped out by Hollywood today is garbage. Sad but true. Avatar is good. Not great, just good. Flawed and unoriginal, but still good.

Condiments make food much more enjoyable, though, and are a permanent fixture in doing so (as opposed to a passing whimsy or fad). So I'm not sure you helped your case with that analogy. :cwink:

I agree, Avatar was better than Transformers. Boy aren't we all getting off topic here LOL. :word:

I'm sorry you feel that emotions and feelings are getting in the way of people's views on this topic because honestly it's semantics in the end. Tool, gimmick, it's all the same. It's how it's implemented that defines it.

Good food shouldn't need anything added to it. :cwink:

Oh come on, that's going too far. It might have been overrated or overhyped. But ten times worse than the average blockbuster? It definitely wasn't.

Back on topic, I don't really care to see Superman in 3-D. If they actually film it in 3-D Cameron style, I'd check it out, but if it's done 3-D in post, I'm saving some money and watching it in a 2-D theater.

I have no regrets.

I think it could get the treatment, but it won't be shot in 3D. Maybe the sequel if this makes a ton of money. I'd expect a 3D conversion though.

I don't even know why you bothered disagreeing in the first place. Contrarian, much?
