I'm VERY excited that most of the original cast is going to be in the movie, and grateful that it sounds like they won't be glorified extras or anything like that. However, I do have to say I will be kind of disappointed if the movie deals mostly with them as opposed to the First Class cast. I mean, I know I'll probably love the movie either way, but I really enjoyed the First Class cast. I'm still hoping that they announce Havok and Banshee's return myself.

You know what? If they can somehow figure Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden into this film, I'd be content with a repeat of that formula. The formula is so much weaker without them.

Not sure I can cope with another heavily Wolverine-centric film, especially back-to-back WITH The Wolverine in the same summer.

Now that I think about it, I wasn't that bummed when Wolverine was front in center in X1 and X2. Sure it was annoying but not a death sentence for those two movies. X3 is where it just became absolutely ridiculous.

Anyways, I'm not sure if it's leading that way anyways, because I really think Fassbender and McAvoy are so damn charismatic that they will own the 70s scenes.

I agree, if he had a smaller role in X3 then it wouldn't have looked like the Wolverine trilogy...

Hugh, Michael and James are going to be the lead characters of this movie since Bryan Singer already said that this movie is gonna a sequel for X3/First Class. But I think when it comes to posters and marketing materials, Hugh Jackman will always be in the center when it comes to group shots.

I'm guessing the Future setting will simply be an alternate timeline to get around Scott & Xavier (and maybe Jean) still being alive.

The clue is that the 'present' time for this one is 1973. That's obviously in the past for the original trilogy, so the catalyst event that creates this future, and is changed by whoever comes back...has already happened before those films take place.

The alternate route wouldn't be unlike the books btw, as that future was later established as being an alternate one all along. Iirc that was not the original intent, but I think Byrne had already plotted and likely drawn much of DOFP, including Rachel (he plotted it, Claremont scripted it) before the late decision was taken to kill Jean off (Byrne had already pencilled the pages where Jean lived so that'd make sense).

And regarding Wolverine...I don't think he will be travelling back in time. That I think will still be Kitty, but for this it will be in body not mind (since she isn't born yet that would have to be the case). I can't see them passing up on the eye candy opportunity of Logan being blasted by a Sentinel down to his Adamantium laced bones in this one.

Seriously though, it would be cooler if he got more GOT folks like Emilia Clarke, Richard Madden or Kit Harrington on board.

I don't think they would go that far. Peter Dinklage is an award winning actor, but they can surely cast someone for Mr. Sinister.
