Bryan is telling us that there is one more major character to be announced (the spot in front of Halle Berry) and five more minor characters. I'm guessing the major character is either a well known actor or a major character from previous films.

Perhaps it'll be whoever will play President Nixon. I wonder who it is:hmm

I think Nixon's role will be small, and more likely he'd be credited way after all the X-Men. And certainly not that high up in the main billing.

I would have thought it's another returnee but I can't imagine any OT returnee would bill higher than Halle.

If they show Apocalypse in a clip between credits like Thanos in Avengers, I will be pleased. It will give us a clue about what the future X-Men movies will be about.

Agreed!

It actually would've been. Weren't they planning on making X3 and X4 back-to-back once? Ratner was a mistake -- he's a ****** director

I heard that was Bryan's plan.

Again, teleportation =/= time travel. And her reality hopping only came from an outside source, not her own abilities. I would be very disappointed if they tried to shoehorn that into her powers.

Well it will not be the first time that the writers changed the power of a mutant. Why cast Blink for teleportation purposes if they could just bring back Nightcrawler in the future period and Azazel in the 70s period. It doesn't make sense to me unless they use her as the time-traveler.

If there's one more major character, I doubt it will be someone that we have seen before. So far, Dinklage is the only new cast member right now that I see getting a major role. I think we will get another one.

Exactly. The only other OT returning member I can visualize being cast now is Rebecca Romijn. But she wouldn't outrank Halle Berry.

However, if the President IS being played by a top A-Lister Actor I could certainly see him being placed there, even if his role is small.

I still think the picture listing is misleading. It could be random for all we know.

Did anyone care about the President in X2 and X3? because I didn't. Mutants are more interesting and I just don't see the President getting a major role unless the President is actually a mutant and I don't think thats going to happen.

It doesn't feel random to me because all the A-listers/bigger stars were placed at the top row.

People will care about the president this time because it will be Nixon.

Maybe for storyline purposes, Nightcrawler is dead in the future. Maybe Azazel is dead in the past. Maybe both of them are. Maybe they want to bring in a popular character who is known for being from a dysotopian timeline. There's a myriad of reasons they could use her, it doesn't just have to be "she's got to be the time traveler."

Just because you feel that way, doesn't mean the writers and Singer feel that way too. Senator Kelly and Stryker were both human and both interesting. The X2 president was interesting enough, but he wasn't a major storyline character for that movie. Singer has said that Nixon would a relatively important character in this film, so yes, he could count as a major role.

Maybe it's Scott...

lol Duran...

It would be ashamed if Banshee and Havoc weren't coming back...I mean since Beast is, why can't they?

I'm really hoping we don't see Havok in this film. Especially since I'm hoping for the return of Scott in some way or fashion. Having Havok around is redundant. :down

True...but now that I really think about it, I prefer if we got Scott back.

Maybe Nixon will be...a mutant!! Would explain a lot...(Joking):cwink:

I'm wondering about his involvement though. 'First Class' used the Cuban Missile crisis as a back-drop for the confrontation, so maybe Singer is using something from real history in 1973 here too?

So what big events involving the US were there in 1973?
Watergate
US Withdrawal from Vietnam
OPEC Oil Crisis over support for Israel
Skylab was launched
World Trade Centres Twin Towers were opened.

If I had to guess Watergate (being the most infamous) would likely figure in some way, but that would likely be a minor detail rather than a major plot point.

I'm the complete opposite. I'd rather they save Scott's return for a film less bloated and have Havok instead. I do wish they made Havok's powers function and look more like they do in the comics though.

Maybe Singer will do a time warp that will have Scott and Alex be brothers after all?

For example, the plane crash could happen for them at such a young age they don't remember it. Whichever time the crash happens, one of them passes forward (Scott) or backward (Alex). This also sets up the Starjammers and a proper Dark Phoenix saga!!!

It's not going to happen, obviously, but I was just thinking out loud. Hypotheticals.

The Geek Files has heard from studio sources that 'the Hellfire Club [from X-Men: First Class] is not in this story', suggesting it might not be just Jason Flemyng's Azazel who isn't coming back. That would also seem to rule out Emma Frost (January Jones), Riptide (Alex Gonzalez) and Angel Salvadore (Zoe Kravitz). There's no word yet on the other First Class characters: Havok (Lucas Till), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones) and Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne).

From http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2013/03/three-more-join-cast-of-x-men-days-of-future-past-but-dont-expect-any-of-the-hellfire-club.html

According to The Geek Files The Hellfire Club (Azazel, Emma Frost, Riptide, and Angel Salvadore) isn't returning. They could have only cited the characters specifically since the Hellfire club pretty much disbanded at the end of FC, but whatever.

I don't think that the loss of Hellfire Club is a big loss at all. I'm pretty happy with Angel not returning in particular; the best thing about her in FC was that strip club scene but I just always found her dragonfly wings too silly for words. Even in a movie with superpowers, blue/red-skinned mutants etc.

I guess that after DoFP they won't be doing another time travel X-Men movie for a while, so it's possible that they'll add elements from other stories about time travel while they're at it.

All those Hellfire characters, sans Shaw, were practically useless in FC. So I don't mind.

Agreed on all fronts. She spat a lot too. Disgusting. :whatever:

Yeah spitting fireballs was also mighty silly. Why would wings go together with fireballs anyway?
