Days of Future Past Days of Future Past VFX Thread

As a die hard long time star Trek film the teaser looks more like a Star Wars/Transformers/Dark Knight hybrid than a Star Trek film. That has always been my concern for J.J. Abrams
on Star Trek.Hopefully the writers did their best to bring some of Star Trek to film.

That's my concern as well, after watching the trailer and seing that new poster which frankly looks like it could have come from any big-budget blockbuster of the recent years.

What's reaction been to that trailer from the fans? Coz to me it's a total rehash of the first Abrams movie, even down to the villain jumping around obvious sets.

I don't hang around Star Trek sites so couldn't really tell you. But to me the difference in visual style was pretty evident. Interesting also that on that new poster it's just Kirk by himself.

In line with my rehash comment, Abrams, or whoever it was that cut this trailer obviously copied The Avengers trailer starting with a quick left-to-right pan of skyscrapers and then some very ominous voice-over rumblings from the main baddie (Loki's "You were made to be ruled." Vs. Star Trek's villain's "You think your world is safe.")

I'm definitely an Avengers fan so I wouldn't blame for copying the biggest film of the year but this film is definitely giving me that been there done that vibe.

The trailer for the new Star Trek film looks good and it was just a teaser trailer.

Remember too that X-men Origins: Wolverine had an awesome teaser trailer and/or SD Comic Con reveal (huge applause, cheers with Gambit appearance) and we all know how that turned out.

I think it would be hilarious if the second Wolverine movie turned out to be better than the second Star Trek flick, considering these two were seen as rivals going into that May 2009 schedule and Star Trek decisively won that round.

I don't know why you are being so negative to this new Star Trek movie. First you said that it looked like Star Wars/transformers/Dark Knight and I don't think it looked like any of those films especially The Dark Knight. Then when I said the trailer looks good, you brought up X-Men Origins: Wolverine. All I said was the trailer looks good but I didn't say its going to be a good movie. :o

LOL I don't know what you're talking about. That wasn't me :oldrazz:

That was me.I stand by It.It looks more like average summer Blockbuster than Star Trek
film.

yeah, I remembered The Avengers in those first shots too. And then later in the teaser with that huge ship coming out of the sea.

I really didnt mind the similarities, when the trailer got my really interested in this sequel, something that the past movie didnt do for any reason.

I love those types of shoots, so cant help but to expect that same level on DOFP, with the x-jet, the sentinels, shoots of that destroyed city in the future and all of that

I pray Singer deliver something huge visually

:hrt:

yeah, I think Bryan has step his game up.

And Im sure DOFP will look even bigger and better than Jack.

I soooooooooo hyped with this sequel, probably more than ever with this franchise.

Haha Bryan Singer has pressure on him to make DoFP better than X2 and FC, I'm sure it will be though, X-Men is his baby.

The intro should at least look very cool! I watched Clash of the Titans in 3D and the galaxy intro was just amazing in 3D but after the intro, the 3D sucked!

I hope they film the entire movie using 3D cameras and I also hope they wouldn't put silly/non-sense action scenes just for the sake of having cool 3D moments.

yeah, the pressure on him this time is bigger than ever too, specially after the negative reception of Superman returns and the praise Marvel has gotten with their mega universe, and not only the praise but the huge impact worldwide. Fox is a competitive studio, so they probably has some type of envy, the same as those other studios. So that adds more pressure on Singer at the same time.

And now with this 3D confirmation, all points out that Fox wants their big event movie too. Lets just hope the final numbers exceed some fans lower expectations. (I already know they will)
