That is interesting. I particularly like the sound of the other two, Batman: Damned and The Other History of the DC Universe.

Interesting to see the historical work that they're releasing under the BL banner. I would think at some time they'll include Superman: Red Son as well.

Looking forward to that Batman: White Knight collected edition too.

For real. Espacially since female characters have been oversexualized for decades in comic books, to the point where you almost see everything and it doesn't cause so much controversy.
Bruce being naked was not oversexualized in that scene, it was fine. I think if anything, comic books need more scenes like this with male characters.

Why has Batman: Damned become such a rare title to get hold of? I was late to the comic book shop that week, so couldn't pick up a copy. And then the thing just vanished. I thought I'd find it somewhere but it's rarer than hens' teeth. I couldn't get hold of it anywhere. DC say they're not going to reprint it either. I don't know why they seem determined to make it so difficult to get hold of. Is it because of the 'full frontal' controversy? Is there going to be a trade paperback once the series is complete?

The lack of reprint isn't directly a result of the full frontal nudity, but it played a part. On the last page of the book is a statue of Christ desecrated to look like the Joker. Brian Azzarello, the writer, had put a clause in his contract stating that DC could not censor the artwork in any future printings specifically because of this page, which he thought would be the controversial moment of the book. So when the nudity thing became a problem, DC couldn't reprint the book with the nudity censored as initially thought and I guess they're unwilling to reprint the book as originally published.

Bermejo's art is always just amazing.

Since it was impossible for me to pick up a copy of issue one (without spending nearly a hundred quid) there seemed little point in buying issue two. I can only hope there will be a compilation at some point (although all the fuss over the first chapter might make that a little unlikely).

I also missed out on buying a physical copy of #1 but it was still solid. I was able to pick up #2 and want to try to get copies of the rest. I love the big book format and wish more comics were like this.

It actually wasn't available digitally originally, but it is now. I finally read it via Comixology fairly recently (and the Bat-penis has been censored out using dark shadow).
