DC Films Rundown

We'll see if anything is announced by WB this month..Personally, I think we will just hear more of the same from them, if anything at all. You know, the old ''we're committed to bring your favorite DC characters to film'' speech.
Trouble is, it will probably be films that MOST don't even want.

Prove me wrong WB, PLEASE, prove me wrong.

I will have zero faith left in them if they come out and announce some crummy line-up like plastic-man, teen titans, and srgt rock.
I'm not gonna be too hard on them just yet tho. I'm hoping they are serious about wanting to get things going now that DC Entertainment is (supposedly) in charge. we'll see.

Someone said that theyre prob waiting for Potter to end and then work on their next franchises. Which makes sense.

They should be busting their asses to develop this stuff with the right creative people they so can move forward with the characters they own.

The time is right since Marvel seems to be screwing all of their properties up.

I was much more of a Marvel fan than a DC fan, but get the right people involved and theyve got my $9 even though I may not have followed the comic books so much.

Example: Im not a big Antman fan, but was really looking forward to Edgar Wrights film.

I too want WB to prove us wrong, but unless another studio gets to make DC films we're going to keep waiting. Is there any possibility of that happening btw?

Found this in a Superman thread
- Time Warner announced its quarterly earnings today -- Good news! They made more money than you can possibly imagine -- and during the requisite company conference call, executives hinted at their plans for their film arm, Warner Bros., and more specifically their DC Comics adaptations.

The entire call is couched in typically opaque corporate speak, but the long and short of it is that we can apparently expect a bunch of announcements soon on the movie futures of characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The execs promise that they will shortly be revealing "plans to mine more aggressively the deep catalogue of DC Comics characters across Warner Brothers' theatrical, home video, TV and games divisions and across our other divisions as well."

As per Seeking Alpha's transcription of the call:

"[Regarding] DC, we are going to have a fairly interesting set of announcements and presentations pretty soon … like in a matter of weeks, I think," said TW Chairman & CEO Jeff Bewkes. "About our plans for DC, and basically if you look across the title of the whole band of hits, whether its Batman, The Dark Knight, Green Lantern coming up, Superman, there have been a huge number of franchised films that have been part of the Warner [tent pole] strategy that's been the reason for Warner's unparallel[ed] high and consistent earnings advantage over the other studios. … And DC has already been a part of that and we are now going to outline an even more expansive plan for that in the coming months."

So, essentially, stay tuned…

Hopefully some good will come of this

We can only hope, I fear it will be more announcements and the movies never reach fruition except for Bats 3 and Suicide Squad.

Hopefully a DC movieverse with all the big players getting their franchises and smaller ones getting cameos. And hopefully a batman franchise that exists in the DC movieverse, either by forcing Nolan to open his grasp on realism, or by rebooting after him.

At least that's what i want to see.

I think they should just wait for the cast/crew switch

If Nolan is producing the Superman reboot then it's possible that he's already on board with the DC-Movieverse concept. He might be serving a similar function to Jon Favreau over at Marvel.

I know its mentioned briefly, but any concrete news about Constantine? Its been 5 years & no sequel or talk of it. I didn't think it was that bad & according to internet sources, it made $230 million world wide. Was wondering if DC is down on this?

At various times over the last few years Lauren Shuler Donner, Francis Lawrence, and Keanu Reeves have all said they're open to a sequel. It's likely one of those films that was a hit, but not such a huge hit that a sequel is a priority and where a sequel would only be made if the budget could be kept under control. It may ultimately be a case of whether they can reach a deal with Reeves that makes financial sense.

in the likely case, since we're reboot crazy, I wouldn't be surprised if Constantine got rebooted. Or maybe as a TV show.

However, it wouldn't be that bad of a reboot since it didn't use the 'Hellblazer' name, and most likely, they can go Brit next time around.

Either way, Constantine is not a bad movie, despite it's flaws.

I see, was wondering if Constantine fit in to their plans. It could work somehow if the kept the gothic theme. Maybe re-boot it & ask Burton back into the fold.

Have you more news about Simon Dark the movie?
