DC Relaunching Everything?

It's a changing of the guard if you will.

It's our turn to b***h and moan about what we liked getting cast aside for a supposed new and better age of comics. Our turn to obsess over meaningless s**t and give 4 page diatribes about how our stuff was better and the new stuff is the suck.

So give it a f**king rest Kuro! If your opinion was irrelevant before this boo s**t, it's gonna be even more so now.

Nobody gives a f**k about the Goldenage. The stories were stupid, the dialog was s**ty, It was kinda racist, and the art sucked balls. For the love of God, give it a f**king rest. :o

You don't know crap about Golden Age comics or comics in general. And I don't care what people think about my opinions, because I know I am right. And I am right because I've actually took the time to learn what I am talking about. Saying "**** Siegel and Shuster" is like saying "**** the Beatles" or "**** Orson Welles" or "**** Picasso"...but I imagine you know nothing about any of them either. I don't care that they are throwing away this continuity (such as it was) since I had no emotional attachment to it, but I still feel for the fans of it who have lost something they liked. So basically I am willing to extend the courtesy to fans of your generation that some (not all) of you have extended to me. Someone who says something like "**** Jay Garrick", even if it's just to get a reaction, is someone who really isn't qualified to discuss comics in a mature manner.

And for the record about Golden Age artwork: like any other period of comics, there is good and bad art from that period. The artwork did go down quite a bit during the war since many of the artists in the service-I wonder how much combat the average modern artist has seen? Oh, right, none. Meanwhile Jack Kirby ducked cushy stateside jobs and actually fought Nazis. And by the way, there isn't an artist in comics right now that could sharpen Kirby's pencil for him unless you want to count Neal Adams.

But there was a lot of pretty amazing art in the Golden Age actually. And if you had any interest in learning about comics, you'd know that. I could post some awesome Mac Raboy covers or Lou Fine stuff or some of Shelly's Alex Raymond swipes or Eisner's Spirit or Carl Barks duck stuff, but you'd dismiss all of it with snide comments anyway. One can only teach the willing.

But whatever.

Honestly the more i think about this reboot/relaunch/revamp whatever, the more i'm excited about it. Its drastic yeah, but hell, its a clean start and a possible re invigoration of DC's characters. I feel like with DC you can do stuff like this. I mean could you imagine the complete utter S**T STORM that would happen if Marvel had done this? Quesada and Brevoort would be assassinated in their homes, and i'm not at all joking.

Ya huh.

The only series of this reboot/relaunch I'm interested in so far is Wonder Woman, Aquaman, potentially Superman, and the two Justice League books.

The other characters with solos so far I just don't give a crap enough about them to read a solo book of there's. Like I like Firestorm and Mister Terrific, but solo books really?
The funny thing is I know next nothing about them and have no feelings towards Firestorm and Mr. Terrific, which is why it's perfect to pick them up.

Marvel has a more united fanbase than DC. DC has schisms amongst their fans so the reaction to a possible total reboot is less drastic. Plus even hardcore Post-Crisis fans admit that DC's continuity is a mess and has been for years.

My opinion, but they are opinions that were formed by actually studying the subject. So I consider it to be at least an informed opinion, especially when most of the people who are extremely nasty to me about my opinions don't know Mac Raboy from McDonalds. I don't debate about things that I don't know anything about.

Whole lot of feelings caught up in this thread. Whole lot of feelings. :o

I feel that I am much more considerate of the feelings of some modern fans than they are of mine. I don't come on here and say Wally sucks or I hate Kyle or anything like that. I grew up with Wally and I wouldn't have had an issue with him being the new Flash if it was done right. Kyle I can give or take, but my favorite GL is Alan Scott anyway. I try to discuss characters in a fairly reasonable manner. The only comics character that I cannot discuss civilly is Wolverine, so I avoid talking about him, although I have done so in the past.

This thread is like...... a married man walking into a bar, declaring his love for his wife and then stating that all other women are filthy, venereal disease afflicted ****es who dont deserve to be breathing the same air as him.... and then getting pissy when the other men insult his wife.

Anyone who says "**** Siegel and Shuster" has no business discussing comics. Especially when you consider the fact that superhero comics EXIST because they created Superman. Practically every person that posts on this website does so because of them. I think they merit a little more respect than "**** Siegel and Shuster".

Oh, I agree 100%, but my point still stands. :o

And it applies to most everyone here btw.

No. :cmad:

Only a little... :o

Well, these characters do matter a lot to a lot of people. Which shows that people's passion for comics isn't quite as dead as I thought it was. DC wanted to make a big splash and get people talking about their line, and they've done a good job of that.

I think my issue with this reboot will not be that it went too far, but instead that it didn't go far enough...but I can totally understand how fans of the current DCU feel since I've been there myself.

I personally don't feel like I owe anything to the creators of Superman, but whatever. :o

Guys breathe

So its not a reboot. We can all relax.Any guesses on what it is then?
Personally?I guess its a fastforwad-Flashpiont will somehow fastforward time to a piont where most of the younger Gen have taken over the mantle of their Predecessors.
So Conner is Superman,Dick is Bats etc

Honestly, I don't really care. I haven't read any DC in like 2 years, so I don't know, this might be a good change or whatever.

I just felt like calling Kuro out on his bulls**t. That stuff sucks. It just does. I respect that what they created. I respect the things they started, but I'd rather read manga while Japanese prostitutes fart on my head, than read that old s**t. It's terrible. It's like Shakespeare. Yeah, the guy crafted great, compelling stories that people have been mining for centuries, but f**king impossible to sit there and read without wanting to blow your own brains out.

Eh. They do deserve some respect. At least more than "**** Siegel and Shuster."

The money-grubbing relatives, however, can go **** off. :o

They seem to be sending out somewhat mixed messages, but maybe some of the series will take part in the past and some in the present. That would explain why some of the characters are looking younger, why they have a Babs as Batgirl book planned, etc. Not to mention that if they have books sat in the past, then those books could be a good starting point for the new readers that they want to attract.

Mainly it seems somewhat muddled what they are intending to do.

I'll just take the comparison to Shakespeare as a massive compliment and drop the subject. If you had a more open mind, you'd actually get to see some Golden and Silver Age comics that would blow your mind with the level of quality and the variety of genres. Why anyone would choose ignorance is beyond me. But then again, I have a 19 year old nephew who refuses to listen to the Beatles, so I guess a lot of young people are unwilling to learn about anything that isn't brand new. I was never that way...I think I was 13 the first time I bought a copy of Citizen Kane and the very first comic I ever bought had a Golden Age reprint story in it.

I peronally am reading Golden age and i really am enjoying it.But Silver age just doesnt appeal to new blood like me.It turns me off with its allpowerful, character perfect, Smug Superman. And this also turns off new readers

Kuro, you know people might respond to your points better if you didn't insult them in doing so. I know plenty of people with open minds who are very intelligent who don't like The Beatles, don't like Golden Age comics, don't listen to such and such. It's all a matter of opinions which is subjective.

I've read plenty of golden age comics. They may have paved the way... but they're still ****. With really, really, really, really bad expositionary dialogue. I mean the dialogue is so bad, it actually gives me a migraine whilst reading. And i'm not a fan of the art either.

again you are jumping to conclusions and tilting at windmills....the only thing we know to be a fact is that there will be a Batgirl book...we dont know if it'll be Babs, Cassie or Tim after a sex change
