For all those Hypsters, now including myself, who wish to discuss potential DC trips for Obama historic transition into the White House, you can discuss them here. I'll be there...will you!

Tickets for Inauguration Ceremony start at 1000 dollars. Balls range from five hundred to a second mortgage. The parade tickets start at nine hundred dollars.

Hell no!
Just because I hate crowds....

They sell tickets to the inauguration and even the parade? Who gets this money and if it is the government, what is it used for?

I hadn't planned on going but I had no clue they charged for the tickets. I'm wondering how many people that have already planned a trip there thought the same.

I have no idea. I guessing with the balls it's paying for the ball itself, but as for the rest, no clue.

Tickets to the inauguration itself are free, you just need to register with your Congressperson or Senator's office.

Yeah... don't purchase tickets from vendors, folks... simply call your Congressman or Senator's office... I'll be doing that tomorrow.

A few friends of mine are planning to camp out on the Mall the night before the inauguration, and I am incredibly stoked for that.

There's no way I'm driving into DC that day. I can barely navigate on normal days.

I hear the hotel rooms in the DC area are already pretty scarce for that week, so if you're going, make your reservations now.

I'll be watching on TV, but I think my boss' husband is going to be there, since he works for one of the networks. He was in Grant Park on Election Night too.

is the inauguration in detroit?

Yes. The powers that be decided to shake things up a bit by holding the inauguration in Detroit. Rumor has it, Kwame Kilpatrick will even have his own paddy wagon in the parade.

I guess that's one reason I can be glad to live here.

sweet! kwame throws killer house parties!

My Aunt and uncle are going to an inauguration ball but I forget which one. Supposedly the president elect will attend it but I think that means he shows up for 5 to 10 minutes.

Ugh... my Congressman is retiring, and the next nearest Congressman was voted out of office. The new Congressmen won't have tickets until they are sworn in. Looks like I have to pull a few strings if I want to get ahead of the game...

I called Henry Brown this morning. The people at his office are so nice :)

Already have my hotel, had to get one in VA and will be driving to DC, and working on the tickets now. Reserve your hotel first, they're going fast.

The boyfriend called Rep. Chris Murphy's office, so I now have a ticket to an event which I personally think shouldn't require a ticket, since it is taking place on communal property. Hooray :yay:
