DC's Definitive Joker origin

Completely agreed. Most of the issue was pretty damn good until that very lackluster ending.

The bunny thing was incredibly odd, but I knew it's intention. Just seemed too forced imo. I would have much rather had Jack get crazy over his new cosmetic change. Here, the transition from evil to psychotic was too quick, almost tacked on.

I'm still looking forward to the next two issues, though.

Oh, and for everybody who thinks this arc is setting up TDK: there's some stuff in this issue that fits in nicely with some of the theories people have come up with based on the casting sides.

Agreed!

I thought the whole issue except for the end was very good. Joker's big reveal should have been better than that. Seemed stupid, IMO.
 
i kinda liked that they didnt try to make it some big extravagant thing. it was just this really odd nonsensical moment, which i think worked very well. you're just kinda like "WTF?", which works when trying to understand the jokers train of thought.
 
yeah, and they explained why it was so quick...the drugs were part of an antipsychotic drug, so being submerged and ingensting tons of the stuff for 5 minutes probably destroyed any sanity he had left by messing with his brain chemistry...

and we've seen the big grand emergence before, and yeah, it's great...but it's already confirmed this is just another letter in a multiple choice question of an origin, so I can enjoy it totally as that now.
 
Transformation's not bad. . . but I still prefer Killing Joke's.

Takes one day for a sane man to go utterly insane.
 
I loved how Joker vomited up a crapload of those chemicals. Pretty nasty image to think about.
 
I just can't seem to enjoy this book, like few of you. It feels cheap compared to TKJ & TMWL. If DC wants to establish a definitive Joker origin the need to do it right! Bring Back Breyfogle!!

Would you feel differently about things if the word "definitive" had never been thrown around in relation to this story? (i.e. If it was just another take on the Joker's roots).

I've enjoyed the story, but at the same time I can sort of understand the reluctance of people who think this is being force-fed to readers as the Joker origin. If I were really attached to the Killing Joke (for example) I might not be as high on this arc.

That said, I think that the Countdown two-pager makes it pretty clear that this is just another option for the Joker's multiple-choice past.
 
I think that making this just one of many possible origins for the Joker makes sense.
But what I don't like is that this can't possibly be THE origin, because Batman is so heavily involved in it.
Let's say that this is the origin people would go by from now on; That means Batman is DIRECTLY responsible for creating the Joker, no two ways about it.

yeah. i like the ones that are ambiguous about batman's involvement.

that way the joker thinks batman pushed him into the vat, even though that isnt the truth. and batman can feel somewhat responsible because he either couldnt save him, or the pre-joker fell in because of batman chasing him.
 
This guy is nuts,he's completely lost it. EVERYTHING is now a ridiculous joke to him. I don't think the bunny thing is that bad at all, almost like the first time we see stuff through Jokers eyes.....
 
The bunny thing just makes him more bizarre. It made a weird kinda sense.
 
I think people were expecting something more like "Oh no I've become a freak like you Batman. Now I'm gonna kill people for fun. Ha ha hee"
