The Joker's Asylum

Any scans of the Penguin issue? Or a general overview?

I REALLLLLY wanna get #1. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow, but all the reviews for it suck,...should I still get it?

it's the reviewers that suck, not the comic. it's a great Joker story with great art but because it's not typical people don't like it.

in the first issue, I actually like the way he draws joker but the incosistency of the art just ruins it... In some panels, he looks like two-face on joker venom and in some heath ledger joker and in some the classic joker....

okay, thanks. I shall.

I never even look at reviews, but I accidently happend apon a few while looking for the release date; they were trashing it so hard I was like,..."yeesh, I wonder if it really dose suck."

but I mean, come on, it's the joker, I'm bound to love it. X)

I don't know about that man...but do what you wanna do.
Thanks for the scans TD, looks like a good issue.

are we talking about my killing joke scanns?

Okay, so I just bought and finished bother Joker's and penguin's.
joker's one was alright, the art was okay, alittle sketchy to my taste, but i still really enjoyed it. The story line was a little iffy, but it wasent bad. And it DID make me laugh a few times.
But the Penguin, oh man, i LOOOOVED it. The art, the writing, it was a great little story.
And i loved the way the joker told it. And i wish the joker looked the way he did in the Penguin issue in his own. i loved how creepy they made him. He was small and slender, with those beaty little eyes. makes me all happy inside, heh. X)

Hey everybody I just bought the posion ivy one and it was pretty good. The art is great but the story never really hooked me in and was kind of boring from beginning to middle. Still pretty good overall.

Joker 6/10
Penguin 9/10
ivy 7/10

To anyone who's read the Poison Ivy issue, do you agree with this IGN review, or no?

Because it's so difficult to bring anything new into the fold with any self-contained, one-shot Batman story, I was able to forgive many of this book's mediocre aspects. What I can't forgive is Krul's failure to sufficiently explain why Poison Ivy would suddenly abandon her usual modus operandi and begin violent killing folks. And that's the basis of this plot – Batman and Commissioner Gordon discover that Ivy is killing men in manners that involve her usual use of plants but include uncharacteristically violent deathblows. In an attempt to answer this central question, the narrative slips into Ivy's perspective for a flashback, but the explanation is an unsatisfactory reason for such a departure in behavior. What is supposed to be an exploration and examination of one of Batman's most famous rogues turns into more of a what if tale, as in "what if Poison Ivy acted like the Joker?"

how is she killing these guys?

there hasn't been a decent Poison Ivy story for like two years now. Hell or even a Poison Ivy story at all. I've been hanging out for this one for months since it was announced, it would be nice if it had something interesting to it

Check out her most recent appearance in Detective Comics. I thought it was an interesting twist on the character, with a nice bait-and-switch in how your sympathies towards her play out.

well when I went to my comic shop the joker one was sold out but maybe that's a blessing.I do have The penguin and Poison Ivy though.Haven't read the latter but The penguin was excellent{Jason Aaron is one comics better writers today.Don't believe me?Read his Wolverine or Ghost rider or even his creator owned series Scalped.}Also before this last I saw Ivy was in detective comics in a great story written by Dini.

do you mean like 2006 recent? Stalked? that's the one I was referring to :cwink:. A yeah it is a great issue. She was kinda all over the place and a little diminished around then but Paul Dini restored and consolidated her various contradictions quite well. All in a single issue while adding a newer dimension to her with the existence of Harvest too. and she has always been a character you can be somewhat sympathetic for, when written well

Hey guys I just picked up the new Scarecrow issue and it's terrible and Scarecrow isn't the main character more of a cameo role. Think this years Prom Night with Scarecrow in it. The art looks like something out of Dexters Laboratory and like I said it looks like the writer watched Balck Christmas and put in the Scarecrow. Those Uwe Boll movies have better plots. Easily the worst issue yet. Hopefully the Two-Face issue is as good or better than the Penguin issue.

dammit, another mundane 'kill the polluters' issue for Ivy, with a origin recap thrown in like it somehow makes the story more worthwhile. This is such a lazy issue. So many writers approach Ivy thinking the concept alone is enough for a story. A plant woman who kills rich people. The end. Instead of using the character to tell something original

Yeah, I flicked thru the Scarecrow issue today, and it looked awful. I didn't end up buying it. The art was garbage.

Nepenthes is right about Ivy's issue. It was a cliche Ivy getting revenge on people who have polluted mother earth. Yawn. The artwork was nice, though.

Apart from the Penguin's issue, this series has been very disappointing so far.

I already have the Joker issue, i'm getting scarecrow, poison ivy, and penguin on back order.

Yeah VERY dissapointing but hopefully the Two Face issue is good

the art from the scarecrow issue reminded me of the people you create on Wii

I have to say. I like this series. It is just a fun pick up and read comic. I do think Joker Asylum was pretty lame. Nothing really new there.

Penguin one was my favorite. The Ivy one was lame until how she offed that one guy. Scarecrow I haven't read yet.

I'm probably alone in this, but I actually liked the Scarecrow issue. I already knew that the story was gonna be like a 80s slasher's teen flick from an interview with the writer so I knew what I was getting into. And in a way it fits Scarecrow's character; if hes gonna terrorize a house full of teens hes not just gonna jump in at them. Hes gonna stick to the shadows and one by one use the fear toxin on them. In the end I wasn't expecting a pivotal definitive story coming in, just a fun short story.

These issues have been amazing.

Personally i loved The Jokers story, art and all, i thought it was a more "out there" style of portraying the character, trying to go far from the norm. Plus Ivy's, Penguin and Scarecrow all had great stories, specially Scarecrow, which is told more like a campfire and Penguins which was just amazing storytelling and art.

I can't wait for Two-face story, plus a Riddler or Clayface story.
