Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine News and General Discussion Thread

Probably the last movie Marvel fans will be hyped for until Secret Wars.

Depends on the reception to the next few movies. The Cap 4 trailer seems to be going over well. If that movie is well reviewed and gets solid WOM, then Marvel movies may start garnering more hype as a whole

I’m definitely interested in Fantastic Four, something I never thought I would say. I just really want to get through Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts. They have always felt like two of the more generic Marvel sequels, and it is taking forever to release them.

I'm going into this movie almost entirely blind. I haven't read anything. I can't wait.

I still think Thunderbolts could be good

But now I kinda wish they went with the Red team, bringin in DP, Red Hulk, Elektra, Agent Venom, and Punisher

I’m going to very much enjoy the Disney jokes, even thought they’ve all been carefully approved by Disney’s legal team (standards and practices, yes yes of course)
Thats the least thing I'm looking forward to. And of course Marvel Studios loves their quips, so this is right up in their alley.

I don't get the Deadpool humor. That Heinz ketchup/mustard and The Bachelorette jokes aren't landing on me.

you know I gotta be honest, I often keep forgetting that this movie is rated R. everything about the promo gives it the same vibes as the usual, overall consistent tones of the MCU which is always PG-13

The red band trailer shows why it's rated R.

Deadpool 1 definitely felt more R than DP2. DP2 didn't have any nudity and was a little less crude compared to the first. I kinda expect DP3 to keep R rated violence and cursing, but maybe not as over the top as the first one. I could be wrong, I don't know if they have shown the list of what makes it Rated R or not.

Yeah it's a bit weird how this is like...the MCU movie of 2024, with an MCU vibe and a multiverse-related plot that will be an important lead-in to Secret Wars that introduces the TVA to movie audiences...and yet it's rated R, so it's technically blocked off to the under 17 demographic. The situation sort of comes across like "Hey kids....we know you're not supposed to watch this movie, but we also know you're gonna sneak in somehow...."

nudity, like full frontal nudity, two or more F words, and gory violence. I think. but I could be wrong & missing stuff too.

I always thought Disney had this rule about no F words, but Guardians 3 had the one.

I also look at it as like, those 6 year old kids who were watching Iron Man 1 (launch of the MCU), are now in their 20s. there is of course always going to be merchandise to profit off of the colorful appeal that is superhero designs (like Deadpool & Wolverine), but I suppose this was a movie that Disney themselves felt would have been a bit of a compromise since they wanted to honor the two Deadpool films that came before it but that they themselves still have a family friendly image they want to maintain.

I suppose if someone wanted to be technical about it, there's also the Netflix MCU series which were all rated R for television and were always canon since 2015 even though fans always disputed it. and there definitely were underage demographics watching them, just like there probably were underage demographics who watched the previous two Deadpool movies & Logan.

edit: I am such an idiot. my math is so off 🤣 those kids who were 6 are now 16 but my point pretty much still stands

I agree with that. It'll be R for sure, but the lengths that the first and even second were R? I don't know. If I'm wrong, I'll happily admit it, but this being under the House of Mouse, I wouldn't expect it to be as hard of an R versus if this were still exclusively under 20th Century Fox.

But again, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
