Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine News and General Discussion Thread

I'm watching this in Wednesday and Saturday.

I don't think i would watch it for a 3rd time in the cinemas but who knows. The cameos would be the deciding factor. I've seen The Marvels twice in the cinemas, I think in those days as well.

I need to just stop reading stuff about this movie. I just got spoiled by something just from going from link to link on Wikipedia from its page to the Wolverine page based on the 35 minutes of footage already released.

By this time next week, I'll probably have seen D&W at least three times.
full

I'm going to wait until I can buy it for streaming. Long wait for me. :(

This movie is going to make the Logan movie more watchable now for me.

I hated how they killed the X-Men off-screen, except for the Professor and the Wolverine - which they also killed in the actual movie.

Yeah I certainly don't need this one-note-joke take, to appreciate Logan, which was a near perfect possible denouement to that universe and character(s). (which is always how I took it.)
If anything this somewhat encroaches on it, yet again so much it's own thing, tongue in cheek, self-aware shamelessly bringing him back for more, I can easily separate the two.
The Laura X-23 cameo is fantastic, as it implicitly acknowledges she knew her own Logan, so again it takes nothing away, and gets to have it both ways.

I just watched the movie with my wife last night to emotionally prepare for Deadpool 3. Great movie, but I don't like how a whole innocent family dies in the second act.

Yeah, I wish I could see it opening weekend, but got a work-related conference to attend that same weekend. Plus, the Olympics begins this week and I may be checking out some of that.

but why wait all the way until it's available on streaming?

gotcha. well, with the society is these days, best of luck to you on avoiding spoilers until then
Oh believe me, unless I'm live tweeting a show I watch like House of the Dragon, I rarely, if ever, venture onto a site like Twitter or Instagram! Even though I hadn't planned on seeing The Marvels, I've learned to not go on if I don't need to since the Beast cameo was spoiled for me.

sounds like today is the last day before the spoiler dam breaks..... gonna try my best to go in blind on thursday

wishing everyone luck with that as well

Of course I appreciate a quiet, character-driven finale for Wolverine, but Logan felt a tad disrespectful to the other actors' legacies in the roles. We just reset the table in DOFP in 2014, only for Mangold to completely kill them off-screen 3 years later in the most brutal way imaginable.

You could have still had the Logan story and simply set the action during 2099--instead of the X-Men being killed by Professor X, they're long gone some 76 years after the 2023 reset future. And maybe swap out Caliban for Forge since we never got to see him...

Well I am not that familiar with Deadpool's rogues gallery, but Cassandra Nova is more of a fitting choice than Mephisto. As Cassandra Nova is a X-Men character and this film will have plenty of characters from the X-Men library.

I don't still get with such a large character catalog from the comics, why Marvel Studios would use a Hulk villain (Leader) in a Captain America movie, an Iron Man villain (Ghost) in a Ant-Man movie. I know its one big Multiverse, but I want to see actual X-Men villains in a movie starring the X-Men or in this scenario, the Wolverine. Save Mephisto for Ghost Rider or Doctor Strange.

Ghost in Ant-Man was simple: Ant-Man's rogues gallery is fairly small. He doesn't have many great villains, so using Ghost made sense. Now Leader in a Cap movie....more of an oddball pick

To be honest, Cap doesn't have the most impressive rogues gallery and the most well known villains were already used. Leader makes sense with the plot and the fact they can't make Hulk solo films, so that's good enough for me.

That and MCU Hulk's origin (like Ultimate Hulk) is tied to recreating the Super Soldier serum, so it's not that weird to use those characters in a Cap film.
