you make a statement, yet when challenged, you refuse to explain yourself. I am not saying that you are wrong, but if I am damaging my comics, I would like to know exactly how I am doing so.

Now let’s go on to the greenhouse effect. First let’s examine a typical old-fashioned greenhouse. It has a wooden frame with a glass roof and glass walls. It is warmed with the rays from the sun. Our sun is a great, big ball of very hot fire. It emits tremendous amounts of all sorts of energy in all directions all the time. Two energies we are keenly interested in, or should be, are heat and light. These two come to us in very small invisible energy packages called rays travelling in straight lines and taking about 8 minutes to travel from the sun to our greenhouse. Glass is a very unique material. If you magnify it enough you’ll find it full of holes. The holes are big enough that most light rays easily pass through and out of the glass greenhouse. That is why we can see through glass. The heat rays, however, are bigger; some of them pass through the glass but others cannot. Of those that do not, some bounce off the glass back to the atmosphere.
Others are smashed on the glass itself, heating it. That is why on a bright spring day the greenhouse glass is hot to the touch even when the surrounding air is quite cool. Then the heat rays which do pass through the glass hit things inside the greenhouse like soil, wood, leaves. Here again some rays are smashed, cease to exist, passing their heat energy to whatever was hit. The remaining rays which bounce off whatever they hit, by virtue of that hit and change in direction, are now bigger and slower. So they bounce out towards the glass roof or walls of the greenhouse they cannot pass out through, because they are now quite a bit larger. So when they hit the glass they become larger still and travel towards the plants and soil within the greenhouse. Where on subsequent hits all these rays cease to exist passing their heat energy onto whatever they hit. The heat is thus captured inside the greenhouse. This is the greenhouse effect. working in an old-fashioned greenhouse.






**** So in effect, what I have to do is stop the suns rays from entering the room. Would tin foil on the window block out the suns rays? How about a really dark colored blind or thick curtian?

Is this why many peeps keep their comics in their basements?

Someone gives you some fair amount of information for you to follow up on with the intent of maybe helping you avoiding damaging your property and you're an ass to them about it just because they won't explain it in vivid, science text-book detail for you? I gave you enough to do your own research, so what's with this expecting me to educate you even further? Believe me or don't. It's really not my problem. Next time I just won't say anything and let you do what you're going to do.

Deathlok, just think of it this way, why do you think comic book stores keep their comics in long boxes with tops on them?
 
Ideally comics should be wrapped in muslin, placed in a vacuum-packed plastic container, and then that should be placed in a air/water-tight, fire-proof safe which should then be buried 5 or 6 feet underground.
Also, only bury them late at night so no one sees where they're located.

SO bascially, if you do not store your comics in acid free boxes in a cool place, your comics are doomed?

Well I DO store my 1960s books in mylar in an acid free box, in the basement, in a closet. They are also up off the ground in case of a flood. :up: :up:


These newer books from the last 6-7 years are not worth mylars. MOst do not even warrent a board & bag! :eek:

SO I take it you are all white, acid free, storage box dudes when it comes to storing your comics? Nothing wrong with that. I still use those to a lesser degree.

I always though that once you actually OWN property ( your own house), you would want to purchase nice looking bookshelfs of some sort in which to store your comics. That way, women will be impressed & NOT jump out the window :eek: when they see your comic book collection. :up:

NO, YOU misunderstand once again! Women will not be impressed by a comic book collection. But they might be impressed that you store them in nice, stylish shelfs.
