Demons, monsters and werewolves, oh my!

Does anyone else think Blade will take on more than just vampires, for example, like in Buffy where different demons, monsters and werewolves were tackled?

I'd be in favour of it, because cool as vampires are, it might get a little stale unless they introduce different subspecies (ie the reapers...how cool would it be if they did turn up though?) and I think it might be cool to see him do battle with more than normal vampis. what do you guys think?

I think, through his travels, he should come across other types of monsters. Vamps should still be the most prevalent, though, simply because they're capable of reproducing much faster.

I still think they should handle monsters in the same way they do vamps. As in, through a grounded, scientific explanation (vampirism is caused by a virus). Werewolves could easily be a similar virus (or even a mutated strain of the same virus), many demons could be a mutated sub speicese of humans, and more powerful mythical figures like Satan and the gods of mythology could be extra dimensional entities or aliens of some kind. Or, they could use the explanation in "Amarican Gods" and say that because millions of people people beleived in and worshiped these beings, that they were, through mind over matter, willed into existence.

I hope the Blade series delves into other monsters. Something along the lines of Supernatural. SN has an edge and it isn't campy.

I prefer a 'scientific' explanation for them, at least for the vamps. But maybe not for the ancient, pure bloods. I mean in Blade they had a vampire god, and the winged skeletons/ghosts of the sacrificed twelve vamps certainly looked mystical.

Drake's origins were also left open. He seemed like a totally different being, a demon.

So, if its done right, I'm not opposed to adding a mystical element to the show. It would totally give movie/TV Blade something new to wrap his head around. Beings you can't kill the old ways. It would force him to evolve.
