I played it for a couple of hours at launch last night, really enjoying it so far and suffering a bit in work today for it.
Massively wasted potential and I reckon a lot of people who were disappointed won't be coming back even if they fix everything. Getting it right first time (especially after the way they marketed it) was very important. But I'll certainly be giving it a go.I thought Destiny would be the game that would keep me occupied for years. It took roughly a month until I developed actual hatred for it. Probably my fault for hyping it up in my mind so much. I still played it off an on, with months of breaks between each play session. With no other game do I have such a hate/love relationship. It has smooth gameplay and is a great co-op shooter, but so much potential was wasted.
^ to both Iceman and Nathan.
I agree that Destiny had so much potential based on the original concept presented. but the actual execution frittered that potential away.
hopefully Destiny 2 can right the ship.
I know I'd be more interested in the whole series if it were developed by Bioware and if it were a full on story driven, 3rd person RPG with FULL class development. Seems like Bioware will be doing something similar with Anthem, which is why I'm more interested in that.
speaking of Destiny 1, I am curious as to how your Destiny 1 character carries over?
Is there extra dialogue to acknowledge your accomplishments in Destiny 1?
is your Ghost in Destiny 2 the same Ghost you had in Destiny 1?
for someone who hasn't played Destiny 1, is it worth it at this point to play through the whole Destiny 1 before getting into Destiny 2?
I see the Destiny 1 Complete Collection on sale for like $30. so I was wondering if I should pick that up and play through it first before Destiny 2.
Characters are stored on Bungie's servers, so they just appear automatically but you also have the option to create a new one.
You get a little montage at the start showing your Destiny 1 accomplishments and there is tweaks to the dialogue depending if you are a new player or veteran.
The Ghost is the same but it's voiced by Nolan North this time round.
Imo I don't think it a necessity to have played Destiny 1 before playing the sequel. Unless you are into the lore side of things but there are youtube videos etc which can bring you up to speed.
