Games Destiny 2

General Gaming Discussion
I'm not sure what to think. Activision definitely had an effect. Take a look at what Blizzard was, the darling of PC gaming, and what they are now, a monetization hungry shadow of their former selves. It's entirely possible Activision had different plans initially, and Activision interfered.

Problem is, some of this was Bungie. Plus they've probably been enjoying the money train. Not to mention micro transactions are too I grained into Destiny 2 as is.

Honestly, I say Destiny 2 probably sees some good changes purely for good PR. Given Bungie was said to pop champagne bottles at the news, and fans are happy. They will want to convey that they're not Activision, and all the bad stuff was their fault. Whether that's true or not. I don't expect any major changes though, it's too late in the games life cycle. Maybe it goes free to play on consoles as well?

I think their next game, one they build from the ground up without Activision is where we'll see any true changes.

I'm glad Bungie is giving Activision the boot. It hurts Activision, their stocks dropped again by 11%, which is satisfying.

I normally don't wish for anyone to lose their jobs, or suffer financially. But this, 1000x over.

EA, and Activision are the epitome of corporate greed that's ruining the games industry. Anything that takes them down a peg can only lead to a healthier games industry, and happier gamers.

There's a big difference between Blizzard's situation and Bungie's. Blizzard is owned by Activision. Bungie was in a mere partnership with Activision and still had their independence.

Most. Not some, most. Bungie were the ones that rebooted both games when they were late into development. Bungie were the ones that scrapped Destiny's initial story, leaving Destiny an empty husk at launch. Bungie were the ones that agreed to Activision's release schedule because they were confident they could deliver. But ever since the first reboot, and with their engine that needed 8 hours to load if they wanted to make the slightest changes to the game, they couldn't keep up.

The more I think on that, the more annoyed I actually get with Bungie. If it were any other studio, I'd be delighted and happy for them. But Bungie were the ones that went to Activision and partnered up with them, after initially complaining that they didn't have enough freedom while working under Microsoft. I'm sure I wasn't the only gamer confused when I heard their reasoning. Destiny's story is a story of incompetence and poor management. They couldn't agree on a vision for the game, they kept rebooting development, and when they couldn't keep up, Activision even had High Moon Studios and Vicarious Visions help them out.

So before they started to pop champagne and started to celebrate, maybe they should have looked into the mirror and asked themselves why Destiny ended up being in this sorry state in the first place.

I know this game doesn't get a whole lotta love here, but the new showcase has me hyped:

if any of yall play, hit me on PSN: BIGkDUO
