I'm not sure what to think. Activision definitely had an effect. Take a look at what Blizzard was, the darling of PC gaming, and what they are now, a monetization hungry shadow of their former selves. It's entirely possible Activision had different plans initially, and Activision interfered.
Problem is, some of this was Bungie. Plus they've probably been enjoying the money train. Not to mention micro transactions are too I grained into Destiny 2 as is.
Honestly, I say Destiny 2 probably sees some good changes purely for good PR. Given Bungie was said to pop champagne bottles at the news, and fans are happy. They will want to convey that they're not Activision, and all the bad stuff was their fault. Whether that's true or not. I don't expect any major changes though, it's too late in the games life cycle. Maybe it goes free to play on consoles as well?
I think their next game, one they build from the ground up without Activision is where we'll see any true changes.
