Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Still sad that it was supposed to come out last week and now we have to wait until August. :(

I'm just hoping there's nothing terribly wrong with the game and we will get a worthy sequel.

Judging from the alpha demo they released a little while back, I'd be surprised if the game was anything other than amazing.

The level of detail that they had in Human Revolution takes time (and I LOVE that game), and trying to create a narrative that's a little more fluid with regard to your choices probably also factored into why they delayed.

Considering some of the compromises they had to make to come in on time and within their budget for HR - in spite of that game still being pretty great imo - I'd lean towards thinking the six month delay is to keep those kinds of compromises from sneaking their way into Mankind Divided as well.

At least we're not facing our third delay like with Uncharted 4, lol.

Arkham Knight was delayed for nearly half a year and still wasn't ready for PC. It was delayed on PC for 4-5 months after that. Witcher 3 was delayed for 5 or 6 months too. But the result was quite impressive. Street Fighter V was released earlier than needed and a lot of people trash Capcom for that. So who knows what's going on with DXMD. Hopefully the delay is for good and it's not an indication of last minute decision based on shaky public response.

Oh yes. My most anticipated game of the year.

Ditto. I only really buy games now I know I'll love so I don't waste money. But I'm thinking of going all out on this one and getting a collectors edition or something. I'll see if its worth it.

I'm a Steam slave, so I'm gonna buy what they offer there.

I was skeptical at first, but when I listened to some interviews with the guys, it really made me super-excited for the game. Also, when they hinted at Malik's return... OMG.

The only thing that bothers me is that all the endings for DX:HR mean nothing now. I mean, at least one of them happened but depending on your choice at the end of the game, it didn't matter in the end anyways.

I heard a bit about that but don't know too much. I tried to save her in the game but I couldn't :(

It mattered when you were there near the buttons. The only ending, that goes in conflict with the sequel - Panchea's destruction. Unless Jensen survives somehow.

It's actually pretty cool how they got out of the situation. I think it's pretty realistic, given how our world is moving towards "opinion inflation". Everyone has an opinion, but the world keeps spinning. There are pro, neutral, anti-augment groups, and many of those, who want to play beliefs and convictions in their favor.

As for Malik, I actually didn't know she can be saved and just run to the elevator TWICE. I don't remember how I learned about that, but as soon as I did, I had to replay the game for the third time to save her. It was incredibly sad moment and she was my favorite supporting character in the game. And the game was really rich on awesome supporting characters.

P.S. GAWD, WHERE ARE THE NEWS ON DXMD???? The promo campaign will resume in June on E3?

Yeah but it didn't matter what ending you chose because Mankind Divided has created the consequences of what happened in HR. But yeah, I preferred that actually. I like a fresh start to a new sequel and from what I've seen so far, is epic!

I only found out you could save her after watching a video online. But I tried to save her and couldn't. I found it super difficult and felt horrible. I loved her character too.

Who knows. It sucks there's hardly anything being said about it.

Saving her was one of the best moments I ever had playing games. It would be really cool if somewhere later in the game they had a hug or something. But still it was awesome.

Masterful storytelling and game design.

I didn't even know you could save her until well after I had already finished the game. The game didn't do a very good job of letting you know it was even option. If I did know however, I probably would have just let her die anyway. I didn't find her that interesting a character. She didn't really add anything to the experience for me. Not worth the effort.

People often complain that modern games hold your hand too much. Human Revolution didn't and some people are still unhappy. I'm personally was blown away that only the most desperate really tried to save her on their own not knowing if it was possible, other didn't even consider that an option (including me, we were so used to super-scripted narrative), considering how screwed up the situation looked. Yet the game still allowed that.

Faridah Malik added true warm interaction to a cold corporate world, she didn't have any secret agendas and was ready to sacrifice herself for Jensen. She had really interesting side quest, she looked really cool and voice actress did a wonder job on her. Not to mention, she has a really cool Arab name, and at the same time she was a good character, which is quite unique on it's own.

As long as I can open and close the blinds like in Blade Runner, that's all I need.

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, following Task Force 29 counterterrorism agent Adam Jensen as he makes sure the events of the past won’t repeat themselves.

Here’s an overview of what you’ll see, via Square Enix:
The year is 2029, and mechanically augmented humans have now been deemed outcasts, living a life of complete and total segregation from the rest of society. Now an experienced covert operative, Adam Jensen is forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.
Narrated by Adam Jensen, this trailer takes the form of a short investigation, showcasing brand new footage of Adam’s apartment and new locations in Europe, including Prague. You’ll learn more about Adam Jensen’s improved augmentations, which help to enhance his infiltration, combat, and hacking capabilities. Additional insights into the storyline will be revealed, and you’ll also discover both old and new acquaintances, all of which have their own agendas. Society is divided by hatred, prejudice, and fear.

Square Enix has released a new, live-action trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, providing viewers insight as to how things have changed since the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and outlining the shift from the “golden era” of augmentation to the “Mechanical Apartheid.”

Here’s an overview, via Square Enix:
In 2027, mechanically-augmented people all over the world suffered from extreme psychotic delusions, lost control of themselves, and started attacking people. Millions died. Hundreds of thousands more were injured and maimed. In the wake of this global catastrophe, society has become divided by hatred, prejudice, and fear, with many countries now enacting harsh laws. The most notable of these laws is the highly controversial “Human Restoration Act,” aimed at isolating “Augs” and keeping them away from “Naturals.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 23.
