HOT HERO ON HERO ACTION

ALAN SCOTT

It's just a fun book. It has a little bit of everything
this next issue is going to be a stand alone. So it may be a good point to jump on at.

Yeah, Checkmate's basically like a really good spy TV show in comic form, with superheroes to boot. Even when there isn't a lot of actual action stuff going on, the political intrigue is so good that it's still exciting.

Plus: Alan f***ing Scott.

I was when I tried reading it from #4 or something a long time ago. I've been meaning to get back into it, but my budget doesn't permit it.

52 WEEK #15 $2.50
RUNAWAYS #19 $2.99
SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #29 $2.99
THUNDERBOLTS #105 CW $2.99

SHADOWPACT #4 $2.99 gets dropped because Willingham is only writing it now, not drawing.
Civil War Xmen also gets the sack. Sorry but first issue didn't thrill me.

What is Rex Mundi about?

Rex Mundi is a quest for the Holy Grail told as a murder mystery. It is a tale of sin, murder and redemption in an alternate-history Paris where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its grip on power.

The first 12 issues are available in 2 TPBs.

Rex Mundi Volume 1: The Guardian Of The Temple reprints issues 0 to 5

Rex Mundi Volume 2: The River Underground reprints issues 6 to 11

Rex Mundi Volume 3: The Lost Kings reprints issues 12 to 17

The third trade will be available on September 13th.

They restarted with a new #1 when they switched over to Dark Horse. Image was making Arvid (the co-creator/writer of Rex Mundi) pay for producing the book. DH is now footing the bill, so the book shoud be on a regular schedule. It's a finite story ala Preacher and it should be ending around issue 35 or 36 (or, under the new DH label, issues #16 or 17).

This book first came out around 2001 or 2002, and while it's early schedule was very sporatic due to the fact that they paid to make each issue, it should be on a regular basis from hereon in .

:)

Yeah, you didnt answer my question. :cmad:

Well, you'd be better off starting with the trades, but issue #19 (or the new Dark Horse #1) takes the book into a different direction, so I would imagine there would be recaps and that kind of reader friendly intro stuff.

:)

Here's the cover to issue #1 sans logo...
