Sounded more like, "Couldn't get this greenlit in Hollywood, so I made it a comic in hopes of making it a movie!"

That's exactly Burns' thinking. He basically stated he has no interest in returning to comics or comics in general, and that the reason Doc Wolloper exists is so he can persuade a studio to throw some money his way.

I like gritty and pulpy as much as the next guy, but I thought it sounded more like The Goon with softer edges.

I still haven't read it myself, so I can't really say whether it's good or not. I picked it up on a whim, hoping it'd be reminiscent of a less metaphysical Hellboy. I'll get to it eventually and let you know.

Yeah, I think he co-wrote it. Which, given what you said about Burns' attitude toward comics, probably means he wrote it off of Burns' basic idea and got less credit than he deserved.

That sounds about right. Palmiotti is like the unsung hero of comics.

You know, I never read much more than the solicitation about Dock Walloper, so I thought the Ed Burns involved with it was the ex-Baltimore cop Ed Burns from The Wire, not the actor/director Ed Burns from Saving Private Ryan and all that junk. If I'd known which Ed Burns it was, I probably would've passed. :o

I guess it's a common name, although I didn't know there was more than one. The only Ed Burns I know of has dreamy eyes and a perfect nose.

I thought they were the same guy as well, until I looked up The Wire's Ed Burns on IMDB and saw pictures of him in a TV special. Not as dreamy as Hollywood's Ed Burns, but at least twice the creative badass.

Quite. The Wire's realism is no surprise when you consider that its primary creative forces are an ex-detective for the Baltimore PD and an ex-reporter for one of Baltimore's major newspapers.

I really need to watch that show. I'm almost caught up with Lost. Up next is either Heroes or The Wire.

Pff, The Wire is a thousand times better than Heroes. If you're reading superhero comics, you're not gonna see anything new in Heroes.

I've heard that Heroes is the new Lost; large cast, multiple storylines, etc.

It is. But it's all characters and storylines that we've seen a bunch of times in superhero comics. It's novel for people who don't read comics, I'm sure, but you and I would sit there lol'ing at new Heroes and calling them by the names of characters who've had their powers in comics for decades. There's a girl in season 2 who can "record" actions she sees and do them herself later on, for example, so I've been calling her "Taskmistress." I don't even know her real name.

Heroes is good, don't get me wrong. But if you're trying to go for the better quality series first between it and The Wire, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that The Wire is it. Heroes is good, but The Wire is honestly the best show I've seen on television in years.

Hmm...maybe I'll hold off on it and go straight to The Wire. As far as Lost goes, I'm ****ing loving that show.

I'm enjoying it. It's third season started off pretty boring, but then they finally started answering questions towards the end of that season and I got interested again.

I left off last night with Kate, Sayid, Locke and Rousseau finally coming across the Others' compound and finding a similing Jack playing football.

Cool. I'm just worried that Jack is going to become disconnected from the group after seeing Kate and Sawyer together, apparently bonding with some of the Others and being offered a shot off of the island.

I could tell you stuff, but it's good enough that I'll let you see for yourself. :D

Dude. It's killing me. My girlfriend left today to go out of town for work for the next FOUR days, and I can't watch it without her. Does Jack take an every-man-for-himself approach?
