Nice week. Gonna try out Avengers Classic...I was reading up on it in Wizard and it sounds pretty cool. And that Art Adams cover looks fantasmic. And Justice is on it's last issue?! Wow. I remember getting that first issue thinking, "Wow, a bimonthly schedule...this book is never going to end". Well, I was wrong. Can't wait.

I know everyone brags about this book...and, it does look really nice...but, the length of time and realization that this really is just another JLA adventure has made it a bit "ho hum" in my opinion. (Come on, this story does not in any way warrant waiting 2 years for.) Plus, DC is so desperate to make money off this thing that it broke up the hardbacks into three seperate books. Plus, you know they are just going to put it all into one volume when it's all said and done. For me, I'm going to only buy a trade paperback when an entire story is collected.

Yes, but it will probably be an Absolute Edition (they still haven't collected "Hush" in one volume other than an Absolute, for example).

I like the book, but that is probably because I forget about it after every issue, so when it does come I'm like, "oh, you're here", sort of like ASTONISHING X-MEN. C'mon, ASTONISHING is exactly the same. It's little different than any ol' X-Men adventure and it's slow as hell; a "2 year" story has stretched to 3 and counting. Quality wise, though, I'd probably pick ASTONISHING though. At least it has a recap page. And has better dialogue, followable action, and art. Yes, I said art.

I agree on DC's greed about the hardcovers. It is very stupid. It is amazing; 1-2 years ago, if someone wanted to rag on something bad Marvel was doing, you could claim DC was doing _____ better. But almost no one says that sort of stuff anymore. In fact the past year or so, DC in many areas has probably been bungling things worse than Marvel because they rely on more outright outdated ideas. Joe Q may hate the Parker marriage, but at least he hasn't flipped the universe upside down just to get 616 back in high school or something.

JUSTICE is probably an instant classic from Ross, considering he hasn't had one in a few years, but admittedly I may be bummed if the ending doesn't really rock my socks off. Admittedly the first few chapters where it seemed like the LOD maybe weren't so evil after all was interesting, but it lost some steam when it degenerated into a more generic Brainiac Invasion story, especially since I have seen that story done 100 times better and faster on JLU, but, whatever. You dislike it more than I do, and that's fine.

But, hey, Ross relies on the Silver Age just as much as DC does and cannot shy away from it, at least he openly admits it. :p

It was always meant to be bi monthly since Ross and Dougie's art takes so long. And the art is totally worth the wait.

Yes,the 3 HCs are a complete rip-off.Might as well wait for the Absolute.

To me, it's been written as almost the definitive "JLA adventure". Anyone could sit down and read Justice and totally grasp what the Justice League, and really the entirety of DC's heroes (and villains), are about. It's just a totally classic, totally definitive story, with exceptional art, and very strong writing.

Actually, they did collect Hush finally in the Absolute format.

I don't know. I'm enjoying Justice League of America much more than this book. As everyone says, the art is absolutely fantastic; but, I just not blown away with this story. (And, yeah, I've kind of felt the same way about Astonishing X-Men...the wait is extended storyline really distracts from my overall pleasure.)

Better than the Morrison/Waid/Kelly-era JLA? Those are the definitive JLA adventures for me. DC seems to like them, too, since pretty much every single JLA Classified story has featured the roster of that era with the associated characterizations for each character from that era.

To be honest, the story isn't anything new or original,I agree.Along with All Star Superman,it's just a breath of fresh air among all the event madness going on in most cape comics.

Self contained,definitive,all the icons,etc.

I read the first 3 books of JLA at a Borders once, and couldn't get into it.Just wasn't my thing I guess.

But... it's the greatest incarnation of the Justice League ever.

I've always felt that Morrison's run was overrated. Waid and Kelly's were awesome though.

I loved Morrison's run for the sheer insanity of some of the threats. Morrison's one of the few people in comics who could come up with something like Mageddon and pull it off with so many ****ing crazy elements, like the Glimmer of Wonderworld and the masses of DC's Earth gaining temporary super-powers to become a worldwide superhero army.
