Good week with no Maybes. Awsome.

Messiah War has been good so I'm excited for Cable. After last issue I have to say I'm pretty excited for Mighty Avengers as well to see exactly how "It's On!" Having just read Punisher 1-5 a few days ago I've been itching for the next issue so this is pleasant. War of Kings is always a great thing and with the last issue of the main mini this new issue of Ascension has me real curious.

oh, and I might even consider buying all 3 covers to Project Superpowers. I wouldn't normally do that but they're beautiful linking Ross covers, and even if I buy all three of them, I'm still spending less than I would for half of Marvel's books. See Marvel, take care of the fan and we might be willing to go out on a limb. There's at least 3 mini's or ongoings weekly from Marvel that I don't buy though curious about because of their prices. Dynamite comes out with a $1 comic and I'm considering buying 3.

On the one hand, Marvel is trying to beat the media pipeline here, and is ensuring that CA #600 will sell at least two prints and a lot of copies, and let's face it, it deserves to. On the other hand, retailers are feeling miffed because they have no time to up their orders and thus they will have to tell all the new customers who show up on June 15th, "sorry, sold out, come back in 2-3 weeks for the reprint", and if 1 out of 10 of those people show up in that time, they will be lucky. Many see it as a golden opportunity, squandered.

Marvel could honestly be forgiven for not expecting over 500,000 orders of Obama-Spidey. This, though, was entirely in their grasp and they just bungled it. Much like with Bendis, it's not the idea; it is the execution.

For the record, in the file of, "Life Always Spites Dread", LOCKJAW AND THE PET AVENGERS has supposedly been doing better than I cynically expected. The first issue is getting reprinted so it likely saw a modest debut. And the NEW YORK POST Sunday Pet section had an article about it. We'll see how the last issue sells, but Obama's dog may help in that regard.

I'm getting the Pet Handbook because I am a sucker for a Handbook.
