Dick Grayson Casting Thread

I think Finn Wolfhard would be a good choice.
He could play younger but he’s at a good age to start if they want him to become nightwing later on.

Nobody from Stranger Things please. None of those kids have the right vibe. Actually, honestly the only kid that maybe has the right charisma for it is Caleb McLaughlin. I wouldn’t mind a black Robin, we almost got it already with Marlon Wayans.

Noah Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard feel like very lazy choices. Neither of them exhibit the right qualities for the role aside from being white kids. Maybe they’d prove me wrong.

Finn Wolfhard would be my choice for Klarion.

:hehe: Come on, a young Robin makes perfect sense given Pattinson's age.

Now the question is, what will be of McKay's Nightwing movie? That thing is dead, isn't it.

Last thing he said is he's excited for Matt Reeves movie and "be patient"

Interesting. I just can't imagine a Nightwing movie being made in the immediate future. Unless The Batman is a prequel, which seems unlikely.

Before we get a Nightwing movie, how about a Robin movie? Base it on Robin Year One (a great story).

It would be quite amazing if the detective Batman comes out to solve the murder mystery of Dick Grayson's parents. He sees a young person going through the same thing he once went through except this kid doesn't have an Alfred. Him being a smart kid venture out to the Batcave and takes equipment to set out to fight who he thinks is his parent's murderer, only to be intervened by Batman. In this case Bruce knows he can't really stop this kid and he decides to train him and keep him under his wing. This would add more layers to the detective aspect to it.

With Pattinson being about 33 I don't see Robin being under 17 working, to me.
I like this idea. Kind of keeps the situation grounded in reality, in a sense.
I don't see how it's not realistic/grounded for a damaged man who dresses up like a bat to equip someone under 17 as his sidekick.

Eh... one thing that's always been problematic about the Batman/Robin relationship is that whole child endangerment thing. I think that's why Nolan went the way he did and had his version of "Robin" as an adult. Marvel sort of did this with Bucky too; even though Bucky in the comics isn't actually a kid, he looks young and is intended to inspire youths at the time to support the war effort. I think it was a wise move to sidestep all of that and just make Bucky an adult who looks his age. Robin is a slightly different thing though and so I understand why some people weren't fans of what Nolan did (I didn't mind it but I don't know why he couldn't just name the character Dick Grayson or Robin Dick Grayson if they had to throw that stupid line in there at the end).

Anyway, I've read some versions of the story where Robin operates initially independent of Batman and it's only after Batman realizes that this kid is going to do this whether he likes it or not that he reluctantly takes him under his wing (no pun intended). Batman Forever went this route (even though Robin looked like he was in his 30s, lol) and even though I hate that movie, it worked okay there. I think that it's the only way to go if you have a Robin who is under 18, though I wouldn't be opposed to Robin being in his early 20s when he's starting out. It just wouldn't make sense for him to be Bruce's ward if they did that, but I don't know that he needs to be.

Honestly I can't stand the idea of Finn Wolfhard as Robin. Nothing about him says Robin to me other than being a white kid with dark hair. There has to be someone out there that can play this role and then grow into a believable Nightwing.

anyone ever suggest, Montana Jordan...?

I guess it depends on what they're aiming for. If they want to play the long game and get a young actor to grow into the role, I actually really liked Tomaso Sanelli as young Dick Grayson on Titans. I also think he'd age well into the role. The chances of him getting the gig are next to zero though.

Basically 100% sure this is bull**** but eh why not. Supposedly a shortlist for Grayson. If by some extremely unlikely chance this is real I'd go with Bond or Rowe.

Not a single one of those would be convincing as Pattinson's adopted son so I hate all those names for the part
