Dick Grayson Casting Thread

Well Dick is Bruce's ward, not really his adopted son, so he doesn't really have to be quite that much younger than Pattinson.
Even then I still can't buy any of them looking at Pattinson as a father figure. I frankly despise that.

Like I said, my rule of thumb for casting Grayson is: If they could play Pattinson's lover in another movie, they are a terrible choice for thr part.

Would it be ok if they couldn’t play Pattinson’s lover in another movie but could in this one?

I’m guessing we’re getting TLH for the first then some Dark Victory influence for the sequel. I’m guessing we’re getting Dick Grayson in the second film.

A ward is just someone who is under the care/control/protection of a legal guardian, usually but not necessarily because they're underage. It doesn't have to be an adopted child though.

Like for example, on Game of Thrones (I don't know if that's a useful reference for you), Theon Greyjoy grew up as Ned Stark's ward.

If there is any shred of validity to that list, it would indicate they're going for a story reminiscent of Roy Harper from Arrow, where he's portrayed as already basically an adult (17-18) when everything happens. Not my preferred course of action (I want a young actor to grow into the role, with more than one appearance as Robin before becoming Nightwing) but I get it from WB's perspective. They want names and they want to get to Nightwing and Batgirl and all of that as soon as possible.

I think it would take 2 movies for Dick to become Nightwing, without rushing his character development.

No one saw the movie apparently, but Nightwing should move and fight exactly like the last fight in Gemini Man.

Yes, Dick should be skilled at motorcycle-fu like Will Smith in Gemini Man. :D

I'm back (if anyone remember me)

The years have gone by since I've last discussed this.
Kevin Zegers is out of the question now. Guess we can forget Logan Lerman too.

I like the actor on Titans, but now the series have gone downhill (s2).
For the upcoming film, we have to go as young as Asa Butterfield and those alike.
I don't think he's right for the role, though. Kodi Smit-Mcphee is around the same age but I can't see him either.

Maybe even go younger. Could I suggest Jaeden Martell?

Levi Miller, why not?! :)

How about Noah Jupe or Noah Schnapp?

Levi Miller
No idea as to his acting skills but he has the right look, the right age, and looking at his Instagram actually seems like a quite athletic guy:

Can imagine him as Robin, and growing up into a pretty great Nightwing, which I can't say for a lot of Dick Grayson fancasts.

Levi Miller was in Peter Pan

Yes Levi seems to be athletic. I didn't know he was into climbing and stuff. It should make him a real candidate for Robin.
But we won't get a New Tom Holland Spider-Man scenario here.
While I can give an award to Marvel for casting the more obvious actors for the MCU roles… Warner Bros on the other hand tend to cast "against character" for DCU.
Don't understand the choice of Pattinson. And Farrell as Penguin/Serkis as Alfred comes off as even more mismatched.

But let's stick to discuss Robin here. :)

I mean Levi is an ideal choice for Dick though

Tg11: Yes he is. I am convinced.

But there are many missed opportunities with Warner Bros and their superhero stuff, so many over the years.
They need to speed up so that actors don't grow too old for certain roles. The Robin actor should be younger than 20 when first playing the role so they can do sequels too.
Is Robin going to be in the reboot or do we have to wait until the second film? Then we have to look at really young actors already now. I mean really young.
Oakes Fegley and Jacob Tremblay… I think they are the youngest of the bunch.
Both of them could be close to 20 before actually playing Robin for the first time.

Well....you guys have managed to get my attention to this thread.....some of you will not find that that is a good thing.

I want this thread back on line.

You will do serious discussion of who should play Dick Grayson.

If you make a smart aleck post because you think you are funny....you will get a few days off to work on your sense of humor.

We are tired of this crap.

Thank you, C Lee :)

In the last few pages, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Jaeden Martell, Levi Miller, Noah Jupe etc were mentioned. Maybe we can talk about which ones among them that should, or shouldn't, be Robin.

I find it hard to pick someone out from the gang. Maybe Finn is the weakest candidate for Robin, character wise? Not saying he's a bad actor.

I’m watching Hotel Del Luna at the moment and Yeo Jin Goo is the only actor I’ve ever seen with Dick Grayson hair that actually looked good on screen

Their castings tend to be a little more interesting as a result, regardless of outcome. MCU castings never come off as very bold or inspired imo.
