Sequels Did/Do you expect Sony to cast another Spider-Man for 'Venom'

Do you think Sony will cast a new Spider-Man for their Non-MCU Venom spinoff?

My heart's telling me no.

But logic is telling me not to be surprised if they do.

Yes, he needs to be in this movie. The MCU Spider-Man is not going to stop Avi Arad & Tolmach from including a powerful marketing tool for their movie.

Harry.

No.

Just no. That is not a good decision. It will never be a good decision.

Better title would've been, "Did/Do you expect Spider-Man to appear in the Venom?" because he doesn't necessarily need to be cast, but I digress.

If Arad thinks so highly of Venom and thinks the character warrants a solo film, why would they even need spider-man? Surely he could carry a solo film all by himself if he's so great!

you were just discussing different actors potentially playing the part in the main thread

and if the character isn't cast, then what? You want a new spider-man who just so happens to be a mute?

Yes, and you must've (intentionally) missed when I wrote:

Also, who's to say we have Peter in this as a definite? It could easily just be a Spider-Man who serves a purpose of creating Venom and nothing more. Could be much more. Who really knows?

I'd like for a Spider-Man to be cast with Peter actually playing a bit of a role but it's not necessary.

and if the character isn't cast, then what?

Then we get a Spider-Man who exists only for an opening scene or something along the lines to show us how Venom was born. You don't need an actor to show Spider-Man ridding himself of the black suit. Imagine something in the vein of Spider-Man 2's opening credits going over a backstory or something. Many possibilities to have Spider-Man incorporated without the need of having an actual actor in the role.

Personally I have a very strong feeling that Spider-man won't even appear in Sony's Venom movie.

I don't expect Spider-Man to be in the movie.

I do not see Spider-Man in the movie, unless Marvel agrees to let Tom Holland make a cameo to make it semi MCU

Of course he will. It's the holy trinity of Rothman, Pascal and Arad we're talking about here. THEY ARE THAT DUMB!

I am answering no because Andrew is coming back.

TASM lives

would we really need an actor in the role, if we only see Spider-man and not Peter, could they just use a stunt man in suit?

They could, easily. It's a matter of will they go that route or not, which as of right now I'm confident they will.

They would be over saturating their own product to cast another Spidey

I wonder how Marvel feels about this and will deal with it.

Since Sony doesn't make smart decisions, YES, they will most likely cast another Spider-Man just to make minor appearances in the film. God forbid they at least let Holland's version make brief cameos in it. And of course that wouldn't even make sense they did go that route.

More than likely, we would get a new Spider-Man or Sony will get Garfield to cameo.

I'd still like to know how this doesn't violate their MCU Spider-man agreement. . . .

Sony allowed Spider-Man to be used in any MCU film and allows Marvel to gain profit just for those films. And Marvel paid NOTHING to get the character rights back for this deal.
All solo Spider-Man movies can be dictated by Marvel as long as it's under Sony's name and they gain all profits.
All other character movies under the Spider-Man property however, are Sony's to create as they see fit. (And if they decide to have Tom Holland show up in Venom, they very well can since Tom Holland's Spider-Man is also under the Sony Umbrella.)

There still has to be something in there that says Sony agrees not to mess up the MCU by introducing contradictory characters. Or that they agree to collaborate before Marvel properties go into production.

I love venom but I wish they weren't making this movie. This is the wrong moment to introduce the character and the wrong way.
My god idiots! Save the symbiote for avengers 5 Secret Wars. Introducing it like that. Then in fhe next Spider-Man movie he gets rid of it because he realizes what it is doing to him.
