She was innocent, but Dent knew what he was getting himself into

Look, there are PLENTY of clues here.

1. Joker wants Harvey to be his "ace in the hole" -- he knows he is corruptible. He also knows Harvey loves Rachel, and that if she dies, he is going to be easily malleable.


For someone who claims to never scheme, Joker's one hell of a planner.

And because his initial plan was to kill the Bat Man. Then suddenly the batman car emerged. Then Dent was possibly not Batman. Then when Batman did not drive over the Joker, he decided Batman was fun. He made a mind note: Do not kill him. He is fun.
