I agree that it be nice to have send off for a Bond's last film.

The only part I liked about Die Another Day was Moneypenny in the virtual reality thing.

That was blasphemy! (Bond and Moneypenny should NOT kiss, even in virtual reality)> And it was another ridiculous use of sci-fi elements in a James Bond. And it was vulgar too.

Octopussy contains two of the most tense and atmospheric Bond sequences....the opening with the clown being chased by the knife-throwing twins, and Bond later dressed as (exactly the same, great foreshadowing) clown racing to defuse a nuclear bomb

Well, the beginning sequence was actually quite tense and atmospheric, yes, with the clown being chase down by the knife throwers.

As much as I detest other moments of DIE ANOTHER DAY and more than understand your complaint, I can't help but love that moment. Not only was it hysterical, but if we're going to take DIE ANOTHER DAY solely as a celebration of all things Bond, then the moment makes perfect sense. It's a hilarious wink to 40 years of Bond and Moneypenny and their sexual tension.

I have nothing but disgust for when Bond's in a clown outfit, but the opening scene with 009 as a clown is incredibly tense and creepy, and if I do say so, very Flemingesque.
