What the hell did Fincher mean by "the loss of Mary Jane"?
That....I do not know. I didn't bring it up, because I had no idea what he meant by that. MJ never really died in the comics like Gwen, did she?
Maybe...they break up in the montage? Lol.
MJ "died" during the awful reboot in January 2000.
Not ignored as in he won't do it, when he said he can't do a story about "a boy bitten by a spider" he didn't say "radioactive", and that would be harder to do with a straight faceIt's not ignored, it would have been in the 10 minute opening.
He's talking about the end of their relationship(Peter & MJ). Otherwise he would have said the death of Uncle Ben & MJ, if that was the case. Which also leads me to believe this was a more recent interview discussing the "Reboot", because he was talking about continuing where Sam left off. If this was the 1999 interview, MJ would have not played a role, given he wanted Gwen from the beginning, to kill her.
Just saying....it appear he has not deviated much from his original idea, just tweaking it to fit a possible reboot, at the time.
Sam Raimi & David Fincher is great director but with different style movie...just wait & see TAS in 2012...
They just need comic book characters that suit their style and vision.
i will say it again guys like Arronofsky,Fincher,Tarantino should not do comic book films
trust me their takes will piss off fans
as they have such artistic visions of what they want that they will throw the source material aside to tell their story
specifically tarantino

Fichner's idea for Spider-Man sounds like it would have been trash

It would have had less action scenes than watchmen, which is hard to do.
