The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Director's Cut

I have no clue why or why they don't do director's cuts for movies. I mean we got spider man 2.1 but that was like 3 years after it came out and we never got one for sm1 or 3 and it semed like a lot of people wanted one for 3 and not to many people asked for one on sm2 yet that was the one we got.
Director's Cuts are such a ridiculous idea. If the film that hits theaters isn't the "director's cut", then they messed up.

While most movie have at least delected sences. I think ever movie should have at least the delected sences has a bouns feature just because it is cool to beale to see what didn't make it even if they don't really had to the movie or not.

It should depend on the director. Sometimes they don't like what they cut being out in the wild. Scorsese and Nolan do not do deleted scenes.

Yeah I just wish they would I hate wondering what was cut form movies when they don't let people now. Heck with spider man 3 there was even like a list of 20 things cut but we still have never got to see them and its nice to know some what the things that where cut but it sucks to know yet never see them it is like a big tesy with sm3.

Does it really matter what was cut though? All that really matters is what is in the film. That is what is cut properly, with the proper context.

While that is why its nice to see to see if they maybe cut something that they shouldn't have and just how the movie would have been different if they didn't.

I still think this movie will suck no matter the cut. They would need to have alternate, non-goofy scenes for Max/Electro and Alexsei/Rhino and even the Goblin was a bit laughable when he is talking to Spidey and Gwen.

It is like the deleted scenes in Batman Forever, yeah some of them were good but the movie is still hammy and the villains still sucked (though, Jim is hilarious).

It's sad that today most of the films we see in theaters are studio cuts or the producer's cuts

Bingo.

Exactly--adding in won't make it a great movie or even much better. It would have to be an alternate cut with a lot of stuff cut out.

And Sony wound never-ever allow that because that would be admitting they screwed up with the important 2nd installment of an ongoing franchise.

So really, a 2 hour 40 minutes version of the movie with all the flaws LEFT IN?

We'll have to be content with seeing the deleted scenes in a separate extras section and imagining what the movie would look like if they had cut it logically.

Some of the shots that Webb/Sony leave out or incredible, like Spidey back flipping on police cars. I hope they really fill the Blu ray with deleted scenes.

Co-signed. Said it before, but never in my life have I seen a bad movie substantially improved by a director's cut. Not saying it can't happen, but I think that once the precedence has been set, it's awfully hard to dig yourself out of that pit of mediocrity.

Director's Cut of Daredevil was a lot better, but it didn't really make it a good movie like I'd tell people "This is a great movie go watch it." It's more like "try watching the Director's Cut it's more enjoyable."

Though, I think Daredevil is a lot better than Amazing Spider-Man 2. Not nearly as many cringe-worthy moments, Kingpin was great, Bullseye was pretty good too.

Agreed on all counts. Too many films seem to get butchered now, I wouldn't even mind if they made their way to home release.

I think a directors cut could improve the film, you could cut out doctor Kafka for example.

^ This.

I would rather see everything they've cut out vs. all the Kafka scenes that served no purpose other than to annoy and scratch my head at.

And you could remove the awkward editing at the end grave scene. Instead of cutting straight to Gustav fiers and Harry, let the scene go for a little longer, perhaps a little montage of all their moments. Fade to black, keep it black for a few seconds, and slowly fade back into the Ravencroft scene.

Agree with that. I felt the cut to Ravencroft was weird.

Yeah, didn't pick it up till the 4th viewing I think, but I felt I needed more time to be sad.

Showing flashbacks from the first one, yes!

But as I said, that would be admitting the scenes sucked and that they weren't needed in the first place---that's not going to happen. hell, they could have made those scenes less horrible by looping the actors dialogue to a less idiotic over the top voice/accent.
Problem is---they liked it and thought it was funny/good. :wow:

Agree.

All good, maybe the path to redemption is admitting their mistakes? And making the extended cut a promise to make the next film the best yet? Is that a good business model>

I don't want them to cut any scenes from the movie, I want a DC for new scenes.
