After taking some time to sit quietly and reflect on this idea, I've decided to post the basic premise. Though, I'm still going to wait to post a complete application, thread and all.
At this point, the main story is as follows:
"In the year 2012, the President signed a landmark treaty with South America and Canada, creating the monetary "Amero." Pitted against Europe's Euro, the Amero soon wrought havoc on the global economy, sending the Chinese government into a state of political and economic decay.
Seeing an opportunity, Russian troops swept south, invading the dilapidated and over-populated nation, annexing the country and establishing its own choke hold on the worldwide economy.
With a treaty already established with Mother Russia, England, too, began filtering into China, hoping to establish some sort of stop-gap measure to prevent further economic instability.
After woeful pleas and calls for aid from the Chinese, America dispatched troops keeping the peace in Iraq and Afghanistan into China, creating a vacuum of power in the war-torn Middle East. Insurgencies rose once more, filling the American-left void, and seized weapons and outposts in the desert nations.
As the Eastern world teetered on the brink of all-out chaos, the President of the United States instituted the draft once more, causing controversy and dissent among the nation's people.
The various countries of the world grew desperate for resources, as oil was once more in the hands of terrorists, and the United States, the world's leading agricultural supplier, held firmly to its product. Seeing the United States and her populous as weak after the draft, Spain peacefully annexed Venezuela, essentially putting the Americans living there under Spanish martial law.
Remembering the Venezuelan conflict with Britain in the era of Roosevelt and American Imperialism, the United States has dispatched a group of military men, both soldiers and paramilitary to the island nation in the hopes of ending the annexation with little bloodshed.
Europe, too, was now in peril. As Britain and Russia butt heads, killing the United States soldiers caught in their midst.
In response, America has deployed even more troops, ready and willing to engage in war. This is no bluff.
The year is 2018. Warfare has grown leaps and bounds in the last decade, yet bullets and grit still remain at the heart and soul of the American warmachine. The Americas are engaged in a bitter conflict with the armies of Europe, with Asia waiting for the victor."
