Discussion: CNN

I'm still disgusted by the time their headline was "Geithner: An Honest Mistake." No quotation marks. No question mark. No Geithner claims...just the statement, "An Honest Mistake." That is simply irresponsible journalism.

I've heard the charge that their left leaning, and honestly I haven't paid enough attention to them to care. What kills me is their presentation. They treat the news as if it's some over the top action movie montage, and their overuse of sound effects and flashing graphics is downright absurd at times. Perhaps I'm just an old fuddy-duddy because I prefer Meet the Press, Newsweek and The New York Times but that's just me.

I liked the old CNN, the one from the 80's. Just a face, and a lot of blue, and they had the box in the corner with video. And that was it. Now it's all flash and no boom.

Yeah -- I remember they were fine once -- now they're just a bad Sylvester Stallone movie with an even worse soundtrack :down. CNN is officially at the top of my sh**list for News networks, followed by Fox News. Fox at least presents their overly biased news in such a way that I don't need migrane medication to sit through it.

I'm still shocked by that.

To be honest, CNN has become their own worst enemy. They have gotten too big. And the whole 'best (insert subject here) team on television' is beyond annoying!

Maybe if CNN knocked down the amount of air time idiots like Lou Dobbs and DL Hughly get, people would take the network seriously enough to tune in.

I heard that show was cancelled...

I'm giving you Lou Dobbs, but DL Hughley is f---in' funny as hell...though he probably doesn't need to be on a News Network.

It was, or rather it's being cancelled (since it's still on). This is good, he needs to go back to doing stand-up, which is what he's good at.

I could have articulated it better, but I don't believe that a comedian should have his own show on a news network.

Yeah...apparently no one watches the news on Saturday night. Who knew!?!?!

And yes, Lou Dobbs is a complete idiot. I cannot stand that man.

Lou Dobbs, supposedly, is running for Congress in the next election. Here's hoping he loses so bad they take him off the air permenantly . Oh, BTW, did anyone see Jon Stewart's jab at Lou this week...it was awesome. He played a clip where Lou basically tried to tie the financial troubles to (you guessed it) illegal immigration and it cuts to Jon "Illegal Immigration?!? What is this, 2007. Nobody cares about that sh** anymore".

I find it rather disgusting to see MSNBC and Fox News' overt biases get higher ratings than the more subtle CNN.

DL Hughley is better than Infamous Basketball "Analyst" Steven A. Smith who I have seen been used on CNN discussing politics. :lmao:

I actually find them to be a little more "balanced" and not as ideological like MSNBC and Fox. Still, they aren't' exactly honest in their reporting of news. It's actually a little unsettling to see Fox and MSNBC beating them because it shows me that many Americans are just turning to news programs that are favoring their political beliefs and this is a very divisive tactic that will really polarize the climate.

Yup. I am of the opinion all channels are biased and base which one I watch depending on who is speaking...but CNN has a lot more fair people than Fox.

In all seriousness, there is a TON of money to be made off of processing illegal immigrants. It could really help out the current situation we are in.

Hughley is actually choosing to leave the show so he can spend more time at home....he lives in LA and has to go to NY to tape the show....he had asked CNN if they would be open to moving the show to LA because he enjoyed doing it, but they said No....

This could very possibly be true, and probably is.....but Fox has a large number of democrats watching as well. Now maybe they have the mentality that my mother had, and that was "know thy enemy". :yay:

Dems are watching FOX to see the spin machine in all its glory.

True, and vice versa for MSNBC, and NBC for that matter....

Ive stayed away from network news for a while now but lately I catch myself watching Nightly News with Brian Williams...don't know why
