Discussion: Planned Parenthood

That would involve intelligence and integrity.

Intelligence yes, not sure there would be much integrity(since they still going out of their way to deceive people). That being said yeah it would be smart to make yourself look somewhat legit first then boom the anti abortion paper, it would give that paper much more credibility.

I'm betting a lot of people are still gonna keep spewing the "selling baby parts" accusations even now that it's been proven false and the people who manufactured it are indicted.

of course they will, they live in a faith-based "reality"

It was proven false months ago and that psycho shot up the clinic anyway.

They still don't see anything wrong with spreading lies for no reason besides they think they're 'protecting babies'. Morons

Ohio Senate passed a bill that would cancel state funding for Planned Parenthood.

Way to make me proud, Ohio.

You know I have to say this. I may not agree with them but I respect right leaning people that stick by their convictions. You think abortion is murder and should be outlawed for all but rich people (let's face it, rich people would still be able to get abortions for their loved ones and would face no penalty even if caught), fine that's what you think. The people who deserve no consideration are politicians who don't care about the issue one way or the other but pander to the base who does and uses it as a wedge issue.

Carly Fiorina does not care about abortion but she is damn we going to pretend that she does.

George W. Bush didn't give a damn about abortion or gay marriage until he was seeking reelection.

Or Donald Trump suddenly pretending to be religious.

Or, on the other side of the aisle, Hilary Clinton shifting with the wind to suddenly support gay marriage when she opposed it a couple years ago and now making a big ta-do out of how pro-gay she supposedly is.

I don't know how realistic Bernie Sanders' ideas are, but at least he's consistent. He's been yelling about the same stuff for forty years.

Senate resumes gridlock as Zika funding vote fails
The Zika vote came as the mosquito-borne virus, which can also be transmitted sexually, spreads widely in the Puerto Rico and some US states. Democrats blocked the bill because they say it included a provision to prevent funding for Planned Parenthood and no longer included a provision in the House bill banning Confederate flags from veterans' cemeteries.

"Republicans were more interested in attacking Planned Parenthood and flying the Confederate flag -- can't make this stuff up, that's really the truth -- than protecting women and babies from this awful virus," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said.
So Senate Republicans are only willing to do something about Zika if they can f*** with PP. I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

From my understanding(and I could be wrong). The bill includes contraception funding but the Republicans basically don't want 1 cent of that going to PP. I can sort of get it if they were against the contraception funding but to specifically target one place that has a good record with stuff like that, while having no problem with other similar kind of places getting the funding just to appease their base shows what a bunch of partisan hacks they are

if dems had any smarts they would hang this around the next of gop in 2018 and 2020.doesn't matter if abortion is legal if women don't get access to it.and Planed parenthood has other services too.

I don't get this, PP basically gets the bulk of their federal money from medicaid reimbursements, what the Republicans are fighting for is basically taking away choice from people using those medicaid reimbursements.

Now if they want to get rid of medicaid that is one thing but why even bother where people use that money unless you have solid proof that place gives bad service or overcharges for services.

I really want to punch Paul Ryan in the face right now, what a smug f**k.

lol what a puss

Ryan did the same thing when the NC GOP did after passing that bill stripping Governor Cooper of his legislative power... wuss out and break out security when the protests erupt.

I can only hope this means he'll be voted out of office in the next election.

And when unwanted pregnancies rise they will vote to gut safety nets for single mothers. Funny how the GOP "loves" fetuses in the womb, but once theyre born they dont care if they have food, heat, air, or a place to live.

Considering that PP mostly provides support for the poor and single women who will be more likely to vote Democratic. They are basically ensuring more Democrats and hastening the time when minorities will be the majority.

:hehe:

This is 1 of the toughest moral issues out there in my opinion that I wish was separated from Republican vs. Democrat so I can focus on other issues during an election.

I think it comes down to a personal choice of the woman who is having the child. If she's still in a relationship with the male, I think if the woman's health isn't at risk it is definitely a moral weight to choose to abort a fetus I just (as much as I want to emphasize woman's rights) can't see a picture of my own son (or perhaps some would like to define it different) aborted. It's a tough issue with no easy resolution.

Careful planning is a must at all times to avoid even putting the woman in this position I feel. It isn't easy but in the end the woman has a tough choice to make as the child bearer.

In the end, the guilt or moral weight of the decision is placed on the voter whose trying to think of a plethora of other issues vs. that of the individual making the decision and it's the individual making the decision that the moral weight ultimately resides upon. It's tough and often times not fair and I just hate having this come up every time we have to vote. It's always contextualized as if you value women's rights say pro-choice while if you feel moral qualms about looking at pictures of aborted fetus's vote pro-life. I just wish this could be taken to an appropriate venue other than a presidential election. As it can't, in the end I feel the moral weight of the decision should rest upon the woman making the decision as well as her partner who must respect her inclinations and always be receptive and never pushy when it comes to progressing a relationship further.

Tough issue and wish it was dealt with in more of a microcosmic manner and very delicate (circumstances can dictate the appropriateness no doubt but still sensitive nonetheless) and I hope a resolution to this will be reached eventually that doesn't burden every voter to vote 1 way or the other for presidential election pivoting around this issue.

Having/Not having a child isn't a decision like popping Flintstone vitamins. Whether the father is in the picture or not. It's a life altering decision.

The part that really bothers me is that Republicans would have the argument seem like we've never seen a world without access to preventive measures and healthcare to the poor class.

We did. People got unsafe abortions and died. It was the same time we had children working in factories and women burning alive in shirt waist factories cause businesses couldn't be bothered to make safe working conditions.
