🇺🇸 Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

US News
I think among old men running for President, Bernie connects with the youth way better than Biden does.

And that's what this election cycle is moving towards. That's what I'm talking about when it comes to timing. The country is considering more progressive voices, and Biden just isn't that guy.

I do think it's a shame. I think Biden would have been a great President. And I'm not counting him out yet. He should run and see what happens. He just missed his window is all. If he ran in '16, I think he would have won.

There's already laws on the books for this stuff. This was a political ploy to gin up the conservative base.

They're playing you guys.. and they know just the issues that do it. Abortion. Guns. Immigrants.
What law?

What law?

Apparently the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002. That's what the opponents say anyway. That we don't need to pass this, because that bill already exists.

I also think just in realistic application, no doctor is murdering a healthy child. This is more a question of when we put kids on the 'do not resuscitate' list. Should our doctors do their best to bring a deformed baby into the world artificially? Is that the best thing when it happens? I suspect it really is on a case by case basis. It has to be understood that no doctor wants a healthy baby to die in any circumstances, you know? I would say that's murder, honestly.

And for that reason, this feels very political to me.

Your own article says it ‘hardly ever happens’, which means it can and does...which means you are ok with letting a baby die on a table. Disgusting.

That entire article is disgusting.

"Dr. Grossman said there were painful situations in which the fetus might be at the edge of viability and labor must be induced to save the mother’s life. For instance, a condition called pre-eclampsia, involving high blood pressure and other problems, can kill both mother and fetus, and in most cases the only treatment is to deliver the baby. If it seems unlikely that the baby will survive, the family may choose to provide just comfort care — wrapping and cuddling the baby — and allow the child to die naturally without extreme attempts at resuscitation."

There's no wailing abandoned babies dying unattended on tables referenced in this article, but you don't care; you'd seemingly rather accuse liberals of reveling in infanticide than acknowledge the painful nuance in a heartbreaking scenario.

He represents the old guard of “bipartisanship” where you call a guy nice because he didn’t call you names even though he’s voting against the fundamental values you support.

It seems a stupid leap to say "it can and does happen therefore you must be ok with it happening."

Bad **** happens. Unfortunate bad **** happens. Acknowledging that bad **** happens, and being mature enough to understand that fetuses will always be at risk of bad **** happening, doesnt mean a person likes or revels in that ****. It's sad when a baby is born and cant be saved, but that's how life plays out sometimes. We cant, wont, and shouldnt save every single baby. Sometimes letting a baby die is the only merciful option. It's up to the mother and the father and their informed and educated doctor to decide if a baby can and even should be kept alive beyond a certain point.

Roll Call - After HR 1 vote, Democrats ready to move quickly on other top 10 bills

1. Government Overhaul: The marquee bill of the agenda, a massive government overhaul to update voting rights, campaign finance and ethics laws, is what Democrats say is the gateway to the rest of their For the People agenda.
2. Infrastructure
3. Prescription Drugs
4. Voting Rights
5. LGBTQ Equality
6. Dream Act
7. Paycheck Fairness
8. Background Checks
9. Climate
10. 'Something Special': “I have plenty of ideas of what I’m going to do with it, but it’s not a surprise,” Pelosi said. “It’s just holding it as we unfold the others so you’re not saying to me every day, ‘When is it coming to the floor?’”

Here's a big problem, we have had people complain that not enough left wingers went out and supported Hillary Clinton, but now we have guys like Donnie Deutsch, who said that voting for Trump is akin to supporting racism, said he would vote for Trump over Sanders because Sanders is a socialist:

This idea of party unity is irrelevant if it does not go both ways.

Did you watch the video dude? (I would ask the same of the person who tweeted that)

Are you talking about his little ''correction'', one that seems like something he said to save his reputation because initially, he said he would have voted for Trump over Sanders, if Joe Scarborough did not interrupt him, that would have been the point he would have went with. I am not giving him points because he accidentally said the quiet part loud and then tried to back peddle.

Then he changes to say he likely wouldn't vote at all if Sanders was the Democratic candidate, so how is that different from people who did not go out and vote for Clinton?

Aleandria Ocasio-Cortez approval is apparently in freefall with many blaming her over the cancelled Amazon HQ.

Amazon HQ being booted is a good thing. It would just gentrify the neighborhood, bring in lower paying jobs and displace everyone and everything already there for no gain to the people affected.

You definitely sound like someone who has never been to Long Island City, Queens
where the Amazon HQ would apparently be located.
It would bring jobs. It would boost the economy of a city in which panhandlers and homeless currently make the daily train rides a treat. No exaggeration...'bout to head out and start counting.

I stayed away from practically anything AoC says or does because it's such low-hanging fruit.

Unfortunately if the economy keeps up and given the recent Mueller boost to Trump, there’s no way the dems will win. Unfortunately despite how much I want the dems to win, they have no concept on how to fight. They need to fight the hardest they’ve fought in a long time to defeat Trump but they currently lack the tenacity and killer instinct the Republicans have when it comes to fighting elections

We've had a consecutive party switch in the oval office for 4 presidencies in a row.
Either side can be cutthroat. It comes down to how effective Trump was able to forge the distrust in media + how effective of a reporting job the media itself has done during his presidency. The actual candidates seem secondary.

The Dems didn't run on Mueller in the midterms. And what you call killer instinct, I call lack of ethics.

Yeah, Manas, 'cause the Democrats haven't been fighting this guy "the hardest they can fight" for 2 years or anything. There's no step up from there, they're already in sixth gear with the pedal down.

Thing is, that can backfire when you overreach and the independents see you as more of a bunch of screeching manchildren than even the dude you're trying to oust. I'd still venture Trump's probably slightly more likely to lose in 2020 than win, but the giant wet blanket just thrown over this rabid hysteria pretty much helps him in a big way.
