🇺🇸 Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

US News
There is no implication. They will try any American who gets an abortion anywhere. That is their agenda.

“Let me ask this question of brother Thomas. Why are you such a hater? Hate on civil rights. Hate on women’s rights. Hate on reproductive rights. Hate on voting rights. Hate on marital rights. Hate on equal protection under the law. Hate on liberty and justice for all. Hate on free and fair elections. Why are you such a hater?”

I think Thomas' problem is he has some deep self hatred and loathing. There could be a number of reasons for that but my feeling is he's so anti-everything because he is compensating for something in himself that he hates.

The hypocritical irony of the "You got to learn to live with it" says man who won't accept living with just about anything in his Supreme Court decisions. His name is Clarence Thomas.

We have primary elections next week here in Kentucky. I got an election flyer in the mail today for a nutcase named Geoff Young. And I was surprised that he was a Democrat. He is running for Congress....on the platform that Russia is doing the right thing in trying to get the Nazis out of Ukraine. https://www.young4ky.com/

Joe Manchin Votes Against Protecting Abortion Rights Despite Claiming To Support Abortion Rights

Manchin joined in with the RepubliQan’s filibuster even though his vote wasn’t even necessary to block debate.

Let me guess local Dem insiders support him because they assume you can't run anyone more progressive and win in Kentucky? Same defeatist attitude that gave us "Democrats" like Manchin and Synema who just sit by and watch as Republicans gut everything.

As another history buff, I'm sure you agree with me that it is quite the opposite that helped FDR, LBJ, and Carter win over poor, working class whites in the South.

2016
Presidential

D. Trump (R) 48.2% (+0.7)
H. Clinton (D) 47.5%

Senate
P. Toomey (R) 48.8% (+1.5)
K. McGinty (D) 47.3%

2018
Lt. Governor

J. Fetterman (D) 58.7% (+17.4)
J. Bartos (R) 41.3%

2020
Presidential

J. Biden (D) 49.9% (+1.2)
D. Trump (R) 48.7%

Attorney General

J. Shapiro (D) 50.9% (+4.6)
H. Heidelbaugh (R) 46.3%

Fetterman can hopefully win, he starts with a high number. Ditto for Shapiro. More liked than Clinton and Biden at least, though Fetterman's % was bolstered by the blue wave under a Republican president (Dems won the national House vote by 8.6 points that year in 2018, an environment that doesn't exist anymore.)

I swear to Lucifer if we get Booker and Fetterman wins, best thing ever!

Fetterman has a good chance of winning the PA general, now he needs prominent Ds to back him.

Not so sure about Booker, given the demographic makeup of Kentucky and all. It's not Georgia or Virginia in terms of flippability.

Then we must remedy it:

KY did get themselves a Dem Governor, but he was a legacy name and white. I have hope that a legitimate progressive message can connect with enough working class voters to turn the tide, though.

Meanwhile, in PA, it's so good to watch Fetterman crush Lamb. And *knock on wood* it will be amazing to see him in the Senate. He seems tracked for a full recovery from his stroke, but even if he didn't, I'd have no doubt he would have dragged himself down the hall on crutches kicking butt like the OG Hoosier Boss Ollie P. Morton.

I really want to see Cheri Beasley beat Ted Budd so bad in November, but our state is still a light red. Everything has to go just right for her to prevail... I think she has a better chance than Booker though.

One good thing about NC is that is a state that is rapidly growing in terms of tech and science jobs, which is loosening the R lean on the ballot front.

Keep in mind that Trump won NC by 3 points in 2016 (173K votes) but that was cut more than half in 2020 (74.4K) despite increased turnout. Retiring Senator Burr won re-election by over 200K votes in 2016, while Thom Tillis won re-election in 2020 by 93K votes.
