🇺🇸 Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

US News
My mentor once said that the only way for a democracy to survive is to have an educated and informed populace.
I can't help but agree. Seems like the dumber we get the easier it is to be swayed by lies.

Dave Wasserman: "Big question is whether we see a similar dynamic in #MSGOV. Much tougher lift for Dems given higher racial polarization, would need combination of strong Black turnout and weak GOP turnout."

Dave Wasserman, Redistrict: "I've seen enough: Andy Beshear (D) wins reelection in #KYGOV, defeating Daniel Cameron (R)."

Hells yeah

Looks to be R Attorney General and Secretary of State though, which is a bit of a concern about down ballot power.

KY Secretary of State is a moderate R who boasted his bipartisan work with Beshear (and omitted any mention or connections to Cameron). Not too sure about atty general.

It’s looking like Beshear won the Governors race in Kentucky. Great news.

A crucial state Senate seat in VA (district 16) has stayed Democratic after tonight’s election, and it’s a crucial one for Ds to hold the state Senate majority and block Youngkin’s agenda.

Dave Wasserman: "In VA Senate, Schuyler VanValkenburg (D) appears to have defeated Siobhan Dunnavant (R) in #SD16. If Russet Perry's (D) narrow lead holds in #SD31, Dems would be guaranteed to keep the [VA Senate] majority." "And, it looks like most of what's outstanding in #SD31 is mail ballots that should help Perry (D)."

And Ohio voted YES on Issue 1. Come December 8, 2023, the right to an abortion will be enshrined in the state constitution.

As a Kentuckian, I am over the moon on this! I know Andy as we have competed for clients when he was practicing law. He’s a good dude and a heck of a governor. Probably one of the best governors in the country. Kentucky’s economy has soared under his leadership and it had nearly hit rock bottom under his predecessor who was only interested in culture wars and fighting educators.

The democrat party really needs to be looking long and hard at Beshear for a 2028 presidential run. He has the temperament that can move the needle for the centrists and those who aren’t so indoctrinated that they are without reason. He serves people regardless of their party affiliation and has an incredible history of reaching across the aisle to get things done. He won over democrats and republicans alike in Kentucky. The only people who disliked him were crazy MAGA folks and single issue voters. And even some of the MAGA folks voted for him because they saw how he affected Kentucky commerce and quality of life.

I’m really glad to hear about this. Maybe you’ll get elected AG. Lol.

For myself, I just want some sanity to return. Politics of fear, and division Has to stop. The unfortunate thing is that we have a substantial part of our country who are just blind to reason. Those who have created this ignorance want it to continue by using words like parents rights while actually taking away parents rights. The specific example is school libraries. If you don’t want your child to read something, we should have a system where they don’t read it. What about the parents who want their children to be truly educated about reality? What about their rights? The answer isn’t to rip books out of the library.

By the way, my computer screen on my laptop got broken so for the next five days or so, you all will have to deal with voice recognition.

On the issue of bringing back sanity, how about this for a Beshear quote:

"I run as a proud Democrat, but you saw the moment I won, I took that hat off and I serve every single family, because it's time for us to recognize that a good job isn't Democrat or Republican. So, whether you're a Democrat, Republican or independent, there is a place for you in this campaign."

Maybe you’ll get elected AG. Lol.
No thank you! I’m happy where I am!

I expect Ohio Rs to gut, water down or choose not to enact the recreational marijuana, because it’s a proposed state statute and not a constitutional amendment like Issue 1.

I wish more people would talk togetherness like this and drop all the hate. I'm just so tired of it all.
