Discussion: The REPUBLICAN Party - - Part 17

The entire system is becoming nastier by the moment. This Trump win makes them feel they have "Cate Blanchett" to say whatever they want to anyone.

Given what's going on in North Carolina and some the rhetoric coming from the GOP about how bad the Democrats are, I wonder of some Republicans would prefer America be a one party state.

Democracy in this country is under attack by the Republican party. It's sickening.

Republicans only pass laws to help Republicans or restrict people's choices.

I take mass transportation to work every day. I see a lot of blue collar people coming home, some have their kids with them they just picked up from daycare, and I feel like these are people both parties should fight for. But sadly only one party actually does that.

When Republicans talk about the liberal media, what they actually want from the media, a more objective media or a media filled with GOP yes men like Sean Hannity?

It seems like Trump wants to limit the press' access to the government and Hannity said press briefings should be limited to Fox and other Trump allied organizations.

How much support does the GOP have for an independent press?

The GOP has zero support for a free and independent press because a free and independent press will call them on their corruption and abuses of power. A free and independent press will fact check, which doesn't mix with GOP's fact free platform. A free and independent press is the first line of defense against governmental corruption and abuse of power.

In regards to media,Trump's wet dream is the form Putin has where Putin controls it. For many of these things, look to Russia - it's Trump's and his cabinet's playbook scary enough.

Yeap. He loves Putin because he wants to have that kind of control here.

The Republicans win cause too many of those same people voted them into office so I wouldn't cry "Argentina" for them too hard.

House GOP to vote Tuesday on proposal that would weaken Congress’ independent ethics watchdog

An ethics committee potentially taken down when the least ethical President comes to power with a cabinet of deplorables... This keeps getting scarier.

For all those wondering, we won't know who voted to gut House ethics office unless individual members say so.

Vote was not on House floor or in House committee but in closed door GOP conference meeting. No roll call is taken.
Of course, of course...

Wonder how many of the people that called Hillary crooked will remain silent about this bit of duplicitous behavior by the GOP?

Yeah, because the people who weren't able to see that everything to come out of Trump's mouth was projection are sooo capable of self-reflection. :o

Of course, of course...

I am extremely sick of hearing about how patriotic and religious these people ostensibly are.

I can't wait for all the rationalizing about how the GOP using the SCOTUS as a political football was principled but DEM obstruction is akin to treason.

I can't wait for all the rationalizing about how while Democrats pontificated about how Obama's picks should have received an up-or-down vote, it is acceptable now for the Democrats to block an up-or-down vote . . . "because the Republicans."

And, when the Republicans invoke the nuclear option to get rid of the filibuster for SC noms, we'll get to see the Democrats suddenly get irate over something they had no problem with Harry Reid doing over other judicial picks by Obama (but the Republicans did--go figure).

Yes, indeed, we're about to enter a bizarro world where Republicans will act like the Democrats of the Obama years, and the Democrats will in turn act like the Republicans . . .

. . . . but on the Hype, only the Republican Party will be considered hypocrites. :o

How about the GOP should have given the President's choice a confirmation hearing and done their ****ing jobs!rather than leave the court hobbled for so long?

Also... I know people tend to think that the way things are now is how they always will be but... If such a situation should happen in reverse in the future the GOP will have zero legs to stand on. And frankly, neither will you or others like you. They should have allowed confirmation hearings for the President's nominee. Period.

Sorry Handsome Rob, but the Republicans are on the wrong side of history. Have been for awhile now. What they're doing now is legalizing corruption and kleptocracy. They're just doing it openly now that Trump is President and a minority of voters sent a clear message that they don't give a **** about their own well being and the well being of their fellow Americans.

Oh, I agree. So then you will also agree that, as a matter of principle, the Democrats should be "the better party" and allow Trump's noms an up-or-down vote?
