🇺🇸 Discussion: The REPUBLICAN Party - - - - - Part 20

US News
Way to leave out all the "let's not gloat at the USSR collapsing under its own bull**** misguide weight, let's be low-key & humble and just let it play out" stuff too. Yeah, you seem like a fair individual. Hardcore "raaaaah! USA! USA! USA!" guy Bush Sr wasn't.
Iran Air Flight 655. Shot down by the Navy. 290 civilians killed, including 66 children.

Bush's response:

"I will never apologize for the United States. I don't care what the facts are."

Jesus. The bar in here is hilarious.

And nobody's "defending Trump" even remotely here, that in itself is goddamn offensive. Trump's not even tangentially related to the topic, I'd report you on ad-hominem bull**** grounds if I used your laughable parameters on this. The topic of discussion is whether Bush Sr was some sort of warmonger for going into Iraq in '91, which of course only a decade ago would be a ridiculous thing to assert. 2003's one thing, but '91? C'mon, that's straight-up revolutionary college-kid drivel easily dispelled in 5 seconds. Trump wasn't even a factor for another, oh, 25 years.

It's called maturity dude. It doesn't take much to actually try to not act in a bigoted manner. For those wondering, Axi sees no issue with demeaning people with autism by using it in a negative connotation. It wasn't the politics - it was the bigotry. The only reason that I mentioned Trump is to say he too attacks minorities in a bigoted manner and that you find it, as you again demonstrated, amusing like he does.

Randomly going after a group of people isn’t edgy, it just demonstrates a lack of class and doing so dilutes any point that one can make.

Adding: for the record, since I have nothing to hide - I’m on the autistic spectrum with an official aspergers diagnosis. So are many others in various fields, just one example being the classy and legendary Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Jesus. That inside look at the actual party politics is amazing. And significant. A lot of disrespect toward their few women.

And disrespect for the handful of black members, and anyone who is hispanic, who isn't rich. All boiling down to, if you aren't a rich white guy, they don't give a damn about you.

They needed an inside investigation for that? That’s like the face of the party lol, they wear that on their sleeves to a frightening degree.

That attitude was basically established by Reagan whom they worship like their deity.

George HW Bush. Let's go down the list.

-His campaign was typical right-wing horse****: racist (Will Horton ad), faux Patriotism (flag burning amendment, mandatory Pledge of Allegiance), and two-faced accusations of liberal elitism (when he was born rich and his opponent was the son of middle class immigrants).

-The Gulf War: just like his son's war, built on a foundation of propaganda and lies and is littered with the blackened bodies of Iraqi civilian and children, burned alive by American weapons (After 25 Years of U.S. Role in Iraq, Scars Are Too Stubborn to Fade). American forces destroyed Iraqi infrastructure as means of creating a bargaining chip. https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...4a9-bfe7-084da4e38e41/?utm_term=.9393f430a406 “Some targets, especially late in the war, were bombed primarily to create postwar leverage over Iraq, not to influence the course of the conflict itself. Planners now say their intent was to destroy or damage valuable facilities that Baghdad could not repair without foreign assistance. … Because of these goals, damage to civilian structures and interests, invariably described by breifers during the war as ‘collateral’ and unintended, was sometimes neither.” The loss of infrastructure resulted in catastrophic loss of civilian life.

-His involvement and knowledge of the Iran-Contra Affair and his issuing of pardons to those involved.

-His escalation of the horrific War on Drugs.

I don't celebrate this man's life, nor do I honor him in death.

All of this...
I'll also add his horrible track record with the LGBTQ Community and the AIDS epidemic.

The level of real old fashioned anti Semitism (And sorry those attempting to deflect... Diagreeing with Israel's policy choices or elected American officials that support them is not anti Semetism) among GOP members is always curious to me given that there are quite a few politically conservative Jews. This is probably due to the GOP/Evangelical support of Israel but I have to ask... Don't you see that for the window dressing it is? Evangelicals only see Israel as a player in the return of Christ who in their view will convert the Jews to Christianity. And Republicans/Evangelicals/Libertarians (sorry to all the Libertarians that will disagree but you cannot deny Libertarians of many stripes embracing and spreading a **** ton of Anti-Jewish conspiracies over the decades. To deny that is to deny facts.) have a history on the rank and file level of spouting conspiracy theories about Jews or Jewish individuals (Soros being the current target du jour despite having escaped from the Nazis he's now facing their spiritual heirs in today's world).

It surprises me how many don’t see that Soros being targeted is a prime example of anti-semitism. The right just took everything they falsely believe Jewish people to be in how they villainize them and put a name to it.

Surprising and welcome. But... What we really need is for Republicans that are in the party now to STAY Republicans and yet still resist and oppose Trump.

For any out there reading... This isn't a call to abandon all the principled conservative ideas or feelings on issues that you have. I have always said... We need a sane Center-Right American political party. But can you honestly look at the facts of the age we are living in now, and not see where we've come as a country in the past with the slide of the Republican Party that has been happening for decades now to the point where this man, Donald Trump is now the leader of the GOP? A party that both at an official and rank and file level is in lock step with him and will defend him and viciously attack anyone who raises a voice against him, despite ALL the things we've not only always known about the man and his character but all we know NOW due to open source reporting, his near daily actions as POTUS and the legitimate investigations being done by our various law enforcement agencies on both the state and Federal level.

What we need more than Republicans switching parties now are Republicans, both the average citizens, but also powerful members of society like businessmen and media personalities and especially those holding any elected office to understand that the facts are out there to be seen. Even without the core mission of the Special Counsel to probe the possible conspiracy between a proven Russian Intelligence operation to influence American voters through misinformation spread via social media, which continues to this day mind you, and Donald Trump's organization and campaign, there is still more than enough evidence to show that Trump is unfit to hold the office he is in now, has commited crimes in the past, has habitually lied to the public and has used the tools of demagogues to divide the country so as to attempt to escape the judgment that is his due. We are at a point where we know that Trump was and is surrounded by ethically dubious individuals from top to bottom, some of whom have been indicted and are facing time for a variety of crimes. We know that Trump has lied about various aspects of this investigation, both to attack it's legitimacy and to cover up his, his family's and his campaign's actions. We know that our Federal Law Enforcement was looking into figures in Trump's orbit during the campaign for contacts with Russians, even before the now infamous Steele Dossier (which, in case anyone needs to know... Nothing has yet to be proven false, and almost all excepting the most salacious aspects have been shown to be true.) and were able to obtain warrants from authorities ranging from FISA court judges to the highest echelons of the FBI to investigate, to the point that a special prosecutor, one widely hailed by Republicans in congress when he initially began, was assigned to spearhead and bring us, the American people, the truth. All this also occurs mind you with a backdrop of a strong stink of obstruction of Justice.

But even if one wants to discount the "Russian Collusion" story, and lets remember that so far, outside of there being a proven Russian Intelligence operation that was for Trump and against Hillary Clinton, we at this time don't have absolute proof of a conspiracy yet that makes clear a connection between that operation and the Trump campaign, we would STILL have through the Special Counsel's investigation learned about tons of malfeasance by Donald Trump. And we've learned through open source reporting that there's more than enough reasons to believe he's been committing crimes and lying his entire adult life.

In the end, if you are a Republican, either the average person, or someone of key influence in the party, you must see that this man is not the person to fall on your sword for, and you must see the cognitive dissonance necessary to maintain that you could say, totally be supportive of the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton in 1998, and yet given all we know now, think that even the mildest of criticism of the current POTUS is out of bounds. Because that is what is happening now in the Republican Party, and it should not be so, if one truly thinks of oneself as a principled member of the party. In the long view of history if you take a stand against Trump, it won't be looked at as a betrayal of Conservatism in the least. It will be looked at as principled patriotism and yielding to the rule of law over mere politics. No policy goal, no appointments, no politically charged red meat rhetoric which you think advances your cause is worth having such an unfit scoundrel, liar, fool, demagogue and yes, I'm now able to confidently say unindicted criminal siting in the Oval Office. Especially one who also displays such obvious authoritarian tendencies on top of all his other deficiencies and who possibly is compromised on multiple levels, personally and financially, to the point he may be under the influence of or highly susceptible to black mail by multiple foreign governments.

What we need from the Republican Party now is for voices that know what is right, just and correct to speak up and let themselves be heard. We, your fellow citizens, need you to find the courage to actually support the morals and values you claim to champion. This is your time. This moment, right now, is your call to rise to the occasion. The rule of law, justice and indeed the health of the Nation's society and government is in desperate need of aid from you to come to terms with what is happening in front of our eyes and to put aside even deep seated and long nursed resentments either political or personal against opponents from the past to understand the threat to the common good. President George H.W. Bush was once widely mocked for his "Thousand Points Of Light" slogan. Well, that is what we need from the Republican citizens of our nation now. We need you to become a light against the political darkness that festers in your ranks and gives support to President Trump. All it takes is a decision to stop making excuses and realize this isn't some partisan issue or that these are insubstantial and wild accusations being made against Trump. You have the evidence and facts in front of you. Now you have to make a choice, and I would hope that you would make the right one, whether you are a person just barely making by living paycheck to paycheck, an individual making out well off of stocks, or a duly elected government official at both the state and Federal level. Now is the time band together with others like you, and trust me there are other Republicans who have their eyes open, and make common cause with those whose eyes are open to who Trump is and what he represents as a figure of deep corruption and a threat to this American Democracy within a Republic that we all live in.

If you think that this might apply to you and that you are a Republican/Conservative/Evangelical/libertarian who is seeing what needs to be done, or you know someone that is wavering but still supportive of Trump, and yes, especially if they are involved with the party or government in any way... Copy this and send it out. It doesn't take much more than people standing up for what is unimpeachably right to cower those dedicated to protecting corruption and malfeasance. Some are making a virtue, literally, of only listening to voices in media that are willfully misleading the public and acting as though evidence and substantiated facts are not what they are. I dare say that many who support the President have actually NOT read up on or looked into his past, or the current information we receive daily it seems from the majority of the news organizations we have in this country detailing he and his campaign, and administrations actions from 2015 until today. They should look out of their bubble though and realize that conspiratorial thinking in no way explains our current situation. An informed and responsible citizenry is the bulwark of our Republic ultimately. But that citizenry must act responsible, and far too few within the GOP's ranks are showing themselves as heroes right now. And among the Republicans that's exactly what we need now. Heroes.
